The Duke at Rancho El Dorado

The course was in one of the best conditions in the Valley. I was impressed. It is a simple but good layout and a great course to practice on.

The drive from Glendale was about an hour and 10 minutes. At first, my wife thought that was too far to go. But I got a good discounted rate, and had never played here before. Course conditions were nice, the greens are fast and it’s hard to lose a golf ball here.

My wife bragged to some friends about how beautiful the course was. So I guess it was worth the drive.

The course was not crowded at all. We had nobody in front of us and nobody behind us for the entire round!

Course was in decent shape. Fairways are generally pretty wide off the tee, greens have varying slopes to add some complexity, and I had a decent round for first time at The Duke. Took advantage of the price drop after1:00pm and also got an additional Golf Now discount, so the round was pretty reasonable. Overall a good day of golf.

Great day at The Duke. Everything was great as far as course layout and conditions. Plenty of room to for slight hooks and fades if you miss the fairways. Greens were decent speed and accepting of shots by tough to read breaks for us. Shot 81 with 40 putts with 6 three putt holes so lag putting did me in as well as the other party. We sailed around the front nine as a threesome in 1:45 but then the back nine slowed way down with multiple groups waiting on the tee from hole 12 on so took us 2 1/2 hours on the back. Still OK in total time. We ate dinner also at The Duke and was very good with plenty of selection.

We play here 1-2 times a year, during winter months. We love the course. My main complaints are Price and Pace. I think the course is fair at around $75, but I realize that all courses have continued to raise prices. I will continue to play if I can find it at a reasonable rate, but over $100 is too much for this course. It seems like every time we play here, the round takes 4:40 - 5:00. I wish there was a way to manage the course for a 4:30 or less round.

Course was great. Greens were good. Pace of play was the worst I’ve experienced this season. For some in front our foursome played like a beginner ladies group. 51/2 hours on a 106 degree day. Pitiful.

Played here with my 2 capable teenagers. Lovely Arizona golf. Would play again.

This course is in the best condition I have seen in many years. They finally started putting money back into it and watering more. Greens are amazing. Go play. You won’t be disappointed

I love the course. Although we suffered from slow play on the back nine, where 1 very poor golfer in a 3-some slowly drove his cart in prohibited areas and then slowly walked to his bad shots, IF he found them. The course also has the best fish fry in AZ.

The only redeeming quality for this course was that it wasn’t busy and I got to play in 3 hours. The condition is terrible for peak season. I’d only play this course if it was free.
