Great round at Oakwood!
Just want to give a shout to Eddy and the entire staff at Oakwood Golf Club. From the first step on the property we were greeted with warm welcomes and directions as to where to get our round started.
This course was is great condition and played at a wonderful pace that allow us to maintain a sub 4 hour pace.
I strongly urge anyone in the Valley who value/ hospitality and great conditions to check this place out.
Worth the drive
I played the Palms/Sonoran route. Inside staff was friendly and the starter was even better. From the practice putting green to the tee boxes, the fairways, and the greens were all very good. The holes go through a housing community as well as desert areas. So if you go right or left you can get into trouble. Would definitely go back.
Very well kept track
There was a tournament in the morning so the afternoon tee times were all shotgun start at 1:00 pm. A lot of confusion around that time. We teed off about 1:20. After that it was fine. Course was in good shape. No beverage cart was out so that was not good. Overall worth the money that day.
Well worth it
This is a nice course. Excellent shape. Fairways and greens. Not exciting but you still have to hit the shots. The only thing I did not like was there was no ice bucket on the carts! I did not ask because I just wanted to get on the tee so I’m not sure if you could get an ice bucket if you ask for one but cart did not have an attachment for one. Greens are a tad slow. Some friendly members there. Give it a try
native of AZ, but 1st time playing Oakwood
beautiful course! the greens were in phenomenal shape. The course needs new golf carts, especially ones with coolers on them in the AZ heat. not enough drinking water around the course in the heat of the summer.
Excellent layout, challenges you to go for it
All Oakwood courses are in excellent condition with the exception of the bunkers. They have been a struggle for a long time. Not enough sand, mud puddles, often like hitting out of setting concrete. every hole has unique challenges, great for double digit handicaps, opportunities for birds and better. Staff is excellent across the board. And can't say enough about the conditions, especially considering how much play the course gets. Par 4 #8 is short, challenges you to go for the green. Miss to the left and you are wet, miss to the right and you have trees, a concrete cart path, and shot to the green against water off of the back. Eagle or Double Bogey. Green quite challenging unless you stay below the hole. 7. 8. 9. worth the price of admission.
Oakwood
The course was in excellent shape. Has some of the nicest fairways I have played on this summer and better then many courses in the prime of golf season. Greens putted true. Had a threesome in front of us that played kind of slow. Wouldn't let anyone play through and of course no one came out to speed them up..
Nice Course, Friendly Staff
Teed off at 8:30 on a Sunday and had the course to ourselves, typical this time of year in this retirement community. We finished in 3 1/2 hours. Greens were in great shape, just a bit burned outside them on some holes. Fairways were in pretty decent shape, although a little wet in some spots. Not much rain this summer so the watering is needed, just move your ball a few feet. Had a delicious lunch in the restaurant afterwards. A great day was had by all.
Great Course... Unfortunate Restaurant experience
I always have enjoyed this course. The greens are in great shape and the course is always well maintained.
The only issue I have has was purchasing the discounted food ticket, when I got to the restaurant they didn’t honor it if I didn’t buy a meal, so I couldn’t use it, then my playing partners that came in later were allowed to use it for 1 beer.
When I explained this to the shop my next visit they simply shrugged and said ohh well.
I was disappointed in that reaction, but having said that, I will continue to play here and bring others as this was a hopefully isolated incident
Great value
Excellent condition. Nice wide landing areas but still lots of water to make it challenging. Fun and good value.
