Golfer Reviews
Great course but greens had been aerated
Wish there was a way to notify people before making a tee time that the course had been aerated a couple of weeks prior. I love the layout and the greens weren't too bad but...
Improved Conditions but Pace was brutal
Greens were in really good shape after being aerated. A few questionable spots but overall really good. Bunkers were vastly improved. Fairways were still fine although very brown. A couple of tees were tough to get the leg in, but overall course conditions. With lack of rain, we’re very good. Pace of place was awful. 4.75 hrs to play at 7:30 am was ludicrous. Number 1 issue at Hernando is pace of play. Ranger needs to ensure faster pace.
120 yards of rollout
Considering that it hasn’t rained since Thanksgiving 😁 the greens were in decent shape but the fairways and tee boxes were as hard as I-75
Great layout
Great course layout, player friendly, generous fairways, finally found a course with grass on the fairways, some tee boxes were a little barron of grass & a little hard to get the Tee in but we haven't had rain in quite some time. Greens were aerated & filled with sand but the greens still putted well & the balls stuck like a dart on approach. Carts were old BUT they ran on gas so that wasn't a problem at all. We teed off at 11:45 & zoomed around at a very nice pace. This is my new favorite course hands down for the money..☆☆☆☆☆
Great Course
Love Hernando Oaks. Great course with a medium to high level of difficulty for beginning golfers. A favorite locally of long time and talented golfers.
Course conditions were good considering how dry it has been. Better than most other courses in the area. Greens had been aerated recently but were ok. A little slow. Bunkers were just dry dirt.
Took over 5 hrs to play. 2 foursomes slowed play for all of us
The 2 men’s foursomes at 10:15, 10:20 am really slowed play. Honestly if you want to take over 5 hours to play 18 holes be curious enough to let faster players play through. Flat out bad form.
Nice layout. Really nice layout. Fairways and rough in good condition, could use some watering. Greens were aerated so putting was a bit of a challenge. Overall a really nice track.
review
Hernando Oaks is always in fine condition and a fun course to play...even for a high handicapoer,,,,,, however, the greens were being air rated at the time so putting on them was a bit of a challenge.....the fairways were cut close, wide with no too many water or sand hazards to contend with......overall, a nice course to play....looking forward to returning again someday soon.....
Nice layout. Good Putting test
The course is great. Greens are coming up nice. I played from good tees and it is a good bit of challenge. Definitely Worth playing again.
Very Dry
Greens were best I've seen in the area; they were running about 10 and very true. Fairways were hard and dry, no rain the past 6 weeks helped. Great for straight tee shots, 350yd 3-wood feels great, but not practical. Will be back soon....
Course is very dry but the greens are in good condition. I love the layout and the friendly staff. I always enjoy playing at Hernando Oaks.
WAS a great course….
I heard early on new management bought the place in December. Apparently now they have 7 minutes between tee times! BIG MAJOR GREEDY MISTAKE! My friend played during the week , Tuesday morning and it took over 5 hours! We played today, Sunday 4/2 at 11:52 (though we teed off at 11:57) and it was 5.5 hours!! And throughout the front we had up to 3 or even 4 groups on holes. 7 minute tee times? DUMBEST GREEDY MOVE EVER!!
Besides adding extra tee times which have made the pace of play IMPOSSIBLE to greedily make more money, the course apparently has NO WATER BUDGET. Putting tees into tee boxes was IMPOSSIBLE, as we broke a few trying to get them in the ground.
So tee boxes are ROCK HARD, fairways are ROCK HARD (a bonus for this 170 yard driver as I had two roll and bounce over 200 yards). Greens were ROCK HARD so holding greens on approaches was IMPOSSIBLE. Approach areas were ROCK HARD so that if you hit the front of the green it also rolled off the back of the green.
Hernando oaks WAS my absolute favorite course, I will NEVER return until at least tee times are moved to 9 or better 10 minutes. 7 minute tee times is simply a money grab by greedy owners who REFUSE to water tee boxes or greens and thus this course due to time and condition is deemed UNPLAYABLE by this 11 handicap.

Good Layout & Greens
Not much has changed at Hernando since I played it last winter, although I must say the greens were quite acceptable and fully grassed. The layout is quite good but it’s just unfortunate they don’t have sufficient funds to maintain it any better than they do. It needs more water and fertilizer to green it up, as well as a bunker maintenance program, including more sand in them.
The sidelines around greens and fairways are thin, so offline shots regularly roll off into thin lies or the woods.
All in all, it’s a good track, worth playing to see for yourself. Playing it regularly however would wear on me.
We dont believe you about the 350 yrd 3 wood
