About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. This classic blend of southern charm and golfing tradition will create wonderful memories for your golf trip to Brooksville

Fivesome slowed play
Everything was more than satisfactory until we finished a few holes and noticed a female fivesome ahead of us, causing long delays. They only played 9 holes, which made the back 9 far more pleasurable. Still one of our favorite courses in Hernando County.

Good layout. Need to take more care of the sand traps it’s like playing of the cart path

We won't be going back
Based on the price we knew it wouldn't be the best course but we expected more. The greens were in good shape but the rest of the course was in poor, shape, with the tee boxes being awful.
There were no rangers to check the pace of play. After the front nine took too long to play we asked for a rain check for the the remaining nine and were treated rudely by one of the pros. We were told 'no' to the rain check.
While never play again here
Well where to begin, I guess let's begin with the good. Staff friendliness is pretty good from what I've experienced. Facilities are decent cards are probably better than most in the area as well. There is water on the course which is a must. The greens I think are the best I've played on around here. With that being said let's get to the reason why I'll never play here again.
Pace of play at this course is a complete joke. You will be behind a group of four which I don't mind but when the group of four literally cannot play more than 25 to 50 yards of shot while driving all over the fairways back and forth I think something needs to be done. Constantly waiting for people is an issue and in some holes groups are backed up two to three. Also the tee boxes need a little attending and some work and also some mowing. Fairways are probably the worst fairways I've seen and all the area. Besides the pace of play and having to wait 20 minutes on one hole for one group to finish which pretty much ends it for me another issue seems to be people who live on the golf course just taking advantage of the golf course whenever the he|| they want. I have witnessed many times groups and even single people just jumping on the golf course whenever the ever the he|| they want to. Now congratulations you live on a golf course and you have a fancy little pimped out cart but if you're going to do this you have to go and start off one of the tees and perhaps get a tee time. The golf course isn't your personal little driving range where you can take cocktail breaks at people's houses and then jump back on the course again and play to your little heart's content. This party atmosphere crap is ridiculous and has no place on a real golf course. I understand that silverthorne is probably the second worst golf course here next to oak Hill but at least at oak Hill You won't have men comparing their golf cart tire sizes to each other lol. I know that spring Hill is a declining non-intelligent area and soon all the golf courses probably will go bankrupt but so be it. This closes my review for silverthorne and all of spring Hill to be honest.

Very nice course
Really nice layout in good condition, the only problem was the greens were a little slow. Other than that a fun course to play with some really good holes!

Silver thorn golf club
This course was in good condition overall. Greens were smooth and teeboxes in good shape.
A few fairways on back nine were lacking some grass but overall they too were in good shape.
Layout fair and challenging. Bunkers in decent condition overall. A good value for the money.

OK to not great
Price was great as was staff.
Greens were good, not great.
Rest of course was scruffy with very little grass in some areas.
How well the Bermuda takes will determine summer conditions. Good luck.
