About
Nestled in the foothills of Yorba Linda, Black Gold Golf Club sits on the site of a former Shell Oil Field. Arthur Hills, the course's designer, thought the location, with its dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views overlooking Orange County and Palm Beach, was the perfect place for a round of golf. On a clear day, the views stretch as far as the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. The challenging layout is filled with narrow, rolling fairways and fast greens accented by thick patches of punishing rough. Due to the hilly terrain, a flat lie is hard to come by. The front nine requires accuracy and the back nine offers some particularly interesting risk-reward opportunities. Water hazards come into play throughout Black Gold Golf Club, most notably on the 18th. This par-5 finishing hole incorporates a cascading waterfall.

Difficult course
Not too many flat lies, always a slope. Greens have breaks that will be tough to read. Greens speed varied. Need to be able to position ball to score better.

Nice background with hills all around
Do not go here ever!!!
We had an employee who was playing behind us yell at us to get off the green. All four of us heard him. When we confronted him, he said he didn't say anything. When we were leaving in the parking lot, he called us a**holes. I talked to the director of golf and he said that person was not an employee but said he was one. He was with another company and he doesn't know why he said that. Basically they did nothing. We will not return, I told him that and the answer was basically that they are always full anyway. Basically they do not care about any customers.
My home track!!!!!
I love this course it is proudly my home course it has 2 distinctly different 9’s the front is I say rather easy and then the back is a brute but this course is always in fantastic shape and the greens take a couple of times to get used to but that’s the fun of it I can’t say more about this place come play the BGGC!!!!
Too hot to play
The course overall is in good condition, except for certain tee boxes and never-ending renovation for #10 hole. However, it was bad weather for golfing - way too hot. Will come back in cooler weather.

Great course. Back nine tight and challenging! The greens were fast but doable. Everyone was very helpful and kind! I would definitely play again!
A Beautiful Challenge
The course is very well-maintained and is a challenge of negotiating medium to narrower fairways, continual changes in elevation, and what are arguably some of the quickest greens in Orange County. Black Gold also has some of the nicest golf carts in Orange County (even in comparison to Pelican Hills!); which some courses tend to overlook. While its prime-time tee times may be on the more expensive side, $76 for a tee time before 4pm was a no-brainer! Would recommend to anyone who is of a higher skill level that enjoys beautiful and challenging courses.
Great course
I enjoyed playing this course as a high handicapper, with great greens and lush fairways. The amenities were fantastic, with GPS enabled carts. Would definitely bring a group back here.
Tough course
Tough course, all about course management, a lot of hills and blind shots
Nice Course but Overpriced
The course was in good condition and the staff is friendly. The price is quite high for that course, but it was a good experience.
