Black Gold Golf Club

For $150 dollars, I expect to play an elite public course. I was thoroughly unimpressed by Black Gold. Not from the area, but locals had recommended. Rough was uneven all over, greens rolled to about an 8, maybe less. About a week after aeration but no notification. I feel robbed, honestly.

The greens were a little bumpy from being punched but the price was reduced so it was expected. The layout was fun and challenging and the fairways were perfect.

The course is very nice and the staff was great. They were aerating their greens so the greens fees was lower than usual. What bothered me was the pace of play. I’m not some weekend hacker who just gets to the ball and hacks away. I want to improve my game and forgive me if I want to properly address the ball. However I was so exhausted by the end of the round that I’ll never go back. There were weekend hackers who were on our 6 o’clock in the back 9 and the marshaler was encouraging, in my opinion, too quick of a pace of play. Very unsatisfied!

Did not inform us that the front 9 was being punched, had to play the back 9 twice. Not ideal for the money spent, also caused large back-up on hole 10 with no starter assisting. Tee’d off 20mins after our scheduled tee time, did not finish the final hole due to darkness (would have if we tee’d off at our scheduled time)

The course looked phenomenal! There was a little rain early this morning so the greens were running slow but the fairways, greens and rough all looked almost immaculate and was fun to play!
