About
Nestled in the foothills of Yorba Linda, Black Gold Golf Club sits on the site of a former Shell Oil Field. Arthur Hills, the course's designer, thought the location, with its dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views overlooking Orange County and Palm Beach, was the perfect place for a round of golf. On a clear day, the views stretch as far as the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. The challenging layout is filled with narrow, rolling fairways and fast greens accented by thick patches of punishing rough. Due to the hilly terrain, a flat lie is hard to come by. The front nine requires accuracy and the back nine offers some particularly interesting risk-reward opportunities. Water hazards come into play throughout Black Gold Golf Club, most notably on the 18th. This par-5 finishing hole incorporates a cascading waterfall.

Great course. Great staff. A lil pricey but worth it.
Good challenging course
I was visiting the Southern CA area and played a few courses. I would recommend this course to anyone.
I drove 40 min to get there, but glad I did. Very nice course, presents some good challenges, and pace of play was good.
The greens were a little rough (not smooth), but may have been the time of year. You will enjoy the course.
Breathtaking Twilight Views
Firs time playing this local beauty and it did not disappoint. Staff were all very friendly and the course is maintained impeccably.
Good Condition & Great Pace
Course is always in good shape. Staff is always friendly and helpful when asked. Played twilite round in 4:20.
Also, it's nice that they make it abundantly & overtly clear when the greens have been aerated, as well as knocking down the price. I've found many courses don't do that anymore.
Great Course!
Excellent course as the fairways, bunkers, and greens were in awesome shape. Even the tee boxes were all level and in great shape.
Worst range balls ever
Any course that charges over $100 but has range balls that are cracked, smooth, and brown from dirt confuses me. I’ played Black Gold several times from 2020-2022 while working locally. The range balls were in good condition and so was the course.
I guess I missed the notification that the greens were aerified days prior. So I arrive to punched greens, practice green closed and the small greens next to the tee box occupied by children. So I get a medium bucket and what came out of the machine was laughable. I’ve worked at a par3 course with better balls. Do better.
