Shadow Lakes Club
About
Shadow Lakes Golf Club sprawls across rolling hills with Mount Diablo looming in the background. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the course, providing both challenges and scenic views of the East Bay Area. The undulations of the terrain range from subtle to dramatic and helped to determine the strategic placement of the sharply sculpted bunkers, of which there are many. The design of the golf course blends seamlessly with the existing landscape with swaths of native grasses outlining each hole and natural rocky outcroppings coming into play throughout. The course incorporates links-style characteristics as well as a variety of different challenges including water hazards and deep rough. One particularly memorable water hole is the par-4 16th. This is Shadow Lakes Golf Club's signature hole that features an island green that slopes in front, back into the water.

Great Experience!
I played here several months ago and was just reflecting on what an epic trip it was. Charles the Director made my golf outing spectacular from the first phone call to the awesome meal I had in their restaurant. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The price was perfect and I actually played Deer Ridge the following day. I will definitely be playing here for years to come. Thanks to their staff for a great two days on the links!

Course was in bad condition.. Course doesn't drain well ..at times I was in mud ankle deep in fairway.. Not a course to play when it's cart path only. Staff was great didn't eat or drink.. Because the course was so wet and muddy two stars
It would be fun to play this course when the weather is good.
The weather was bad, wet and cold, after rain. The course was all wet, playing on car path only gave us big challenge for my age at late seventies. Will return when the weather is more cooperative. Challenging but fun course. Golfnow, com value - very good for retired seniors like me.
Extremely wet
Very nice course overall but the recent weather made it almost unplayable.
Awful Management
The staff was useless and borderline rude. Kid behind the bar was a complete joke, inept and incompetent all at the same time. Guy behind the desk at the pro shop made the kid behind the bar look like employee of the month material. Carts didn't work. Had to push ours up the hill on fifteen because the gears kept bucking the cart back and forth. Grabbed the bags off the carts and left them both in the fairway on 18. Never going back, recommending same choice to everyone I know
Well designed course, great value
Great course for the hot deals tee times. Enjoyed the routing of the course. There is a premium on driving accuracy. All of the par 5s play significantly uphill, they are difficult to reach in two.
The Course is getting better
Greens and fairway are in good shape.
Duck and bird problems on 16 and 17 holes.
I played golf with a member of the club and told
me the things the course is working to fix.
I will be BACK!!

Good Value for the price. Check with pro shop to determine the course conditions.
Had fun
For the mid capper/weekend golfer this track is a lot of fun ..for the scratch it's a confidence booster mixed in with fun..there are options on this course so there are a variety of ways to attack this course.. the tips play a little over 6,600 .. I am generally play 7,000q yd courses..I generally card 67-70 here so not the toughest track around but this is one of the courses I use to play all the time when I was a beginner and have really fun memories here even back when I was shooting in the 120's .. There is challenges here even for the pro..the par 5's for example..from the tips that is..the 2nd hole par 5 I've hit the collar of the green in two only once ..on par 5 sixth hole it plays 570ish ..the last 275 is all up hill plays more like 660yds ..my best was driver 3wood to 40 yrds ..15th hole par 5 got on in two only twice and on 18 only got on in two once and these are all pure shots for me on those days ..at the same time I've shot high rounds trying to be cute ..you do use a lot of your clubs which is nice..great views too .. I will definitely be going back
this course is not where you want to play golf
There is no customer service here. no help, no smile.
the cart battery ran down and had to wait for them to drive out another cart. Food in the 19 grill is awful.Pure grease. and limited menu,.
We got a cheap rate and then after paying for the golf, found out they had just sanded and punched the greens and aerated the fairways. and then it rained. but because they did not pick up the plugs in the fairway, you were muddy and the ball was always in the mud. what a horrible experience.
What a view!
This course was excellent. What a great value!
Got a great deal on GolfNow: $28 for 18 holes at a 11:45 Tee Time on a Friday.
Staff was friendly, and ProShop was well stocked. Bar was nice with good TV's.
The views of Mt. Diablo were awesome. Elevation changes made this course somewhat difficult. Lots of bunkers protecting greens (and the fairways).
Will definitely be back.
Great for the price.
Shadow Oaks is a fun course but plays lot tougher than the scorecard shows. At 6600 yards from the tips it seems fairly short, however, add in the slope of the terrain, wind , and soft conditions then you have a course that plays very long.
The course is a modern course that takes some local knowledge to play well because there are some blind shots and some key areas to avoid. It has some awkwardly design holes but overall is a good track.
On the day I went, greens and bunkers were well maintained but the fairways and rough were not in the best shape. Rough around the greens was very inconsistent height and lots of areas where they over-watered it and led to some really muddy areas. The greenskeeper needs to re-calibrate the watering schedules. I have several embedded balls just around the green and lost a few balls within 10 feet of the green because the rough was so long or it was too muddy.
The facilities are good. Grass range, nice clubhouse, and good food. It is a good place to hang out. Small practice putting green.
If they maintained it better, it would be really good. But for the price you can't ask for much and just take the conditions.
Will play again
It was a good day to play golf, some of the fairways were too wet, no roll, and a few ball were plugged and some has mud, the par 3 17th, 1 ball plugged on the green, 2 to the left of the green and one came back off, over all it was a good day of golf.. Bunkers has no SAND..
Greens keepers revenge
The course was in decent shape. Not having any affect from water shortage. Soft around the greens, but green firmness was good. Bunkers need sand, or something like real sand feel. The only real complaint i have is on par 5 #5, the greens keeper put the hole on the ridge of a down slope. which means either you put it in the hole or it runs back to your feet. After several attempts from below the hole, i made sure the ball had enough pace to get to the hole. It did, it went past the hole three to four inches and rolled backwards into the hole. unbelievable. I took my revenge by getting a birdie on the next hole.US open greens at Shadow Lakes!
This course needs markers.
The course do not have enough information.
There are no markers to see so you keep on guessing on choosing your clubs.
The course score card should have more information like the course layout or hole by hole layout.
Quick over view of course and staff
Course was in Great shape considering drought conditions. Greens 8 out of 10, fairways 8 out of 10. Service 5 out of 10 no one calling groups to first tee. Overall i had a great experience.
Liked The Course
Enjoyed playing the course. Grouped with three older (like me) guys who took golf seriously and respected the rules and the course.
2 courses of fun challenging golf
Loved it! Had the opportunity to play two great courses for a low price. The course was in great shape, pace of play was fast and my group really enjoyed our game. thanks for a great two days of golf!
