Shadow Lakes Club

About
Shadow Lakes Golf Club sprawls across rolling hills with Mount Diablo looming in the background. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the course, providing both challenges and scenic views of the East Bay Area. The undulations of the terrain range from subtle to dramatic and helped to determine the strategic placement of the sharply sculpted bunkers, of which there are many. The design of the golf course blends seamlessly with the existing landscape with swaths of native grasses outlining each hole and natural rocky outcroppings coming into play throughout. The course incorporates links-style characteristics as well as a variety of different challenges including water hazards and deep rough. One particularly memorable water hole is the par-4 16th. This is Shadow Lakes Golf Club's signature hole that features an island green that slopes in front, back into the water.

Worst golf coursse
The course is poorly maintained and the pace of play is super slow. It took 3 hours for the 9 holes of play. The course was extremely muddy, and the course condition is the worst I have experienced.
First Time Played Since Reopening
I always enjoyed playing Shadow Lakes before it closed. When it reopened as a 9-hole course I was skeptical but the course is in fairly good condition and the holes they’ve used are still fun.
The driving range is in good shape. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Where's the back nine?
Should have done more research before making the trip out to Brentwood. Our group couldn't remember the last time any of us had played the course. After making the turn and inspecting the scorecard, we realized it's only a nine-hole course. Pro shop put another group in front of us when coming off the ninth! Not cool because it was so slow already. Fine, the greens were absolutely beautiful and fast and that made up for our mistake of thinking it was an 18 hole facility. Grass range was a nice treat too!
Cheap and good
I was late for my golf now time and the staff still let me play. The staff are nice and I even got my phone returned too when I left it in the cart over night. Great experience!
9 + 9 = 18
I was surprised to see a rate under $40 and expected the course to be in bad shape, especially knowing that the course was closed for years. I didn’t expect to find 9 of the holes were gone and the 18 hole course was actually a replay of the same 9 twice. Really nice people made the experience pretty nice but I won’t be going back. Staff explained that GolfNow double booked the 11:00 an 11:10 tee times but it more likely was fitting in people finishing their first nine. Wait times were okay but things backed up through the nine holes. It was fun to remember holes from 8-10 years ago and the greens were pretty good. But there should some type of advisory note on GolfNow.
Don't waste your time/money @ S.L.
Poor ratings all 5-star...I booked my hot deal 18H cart rate online 11:10 Fri Oct.21, after playing the first time at Shadow Lakes was a total disappointment ! At the time of booking,
there was no specification of the Back 9 was being under construction, only found out the hard way after the 1st. 9H, everyone has to play the Front 9 twice.
Furthermore, during check-in the clerk in the Pro Shop had no courtesy of mentioning that the Back 9 was in construction. I paid for(single) cart rate, also, I didn't expect to ride with a stranger while there plenty of carts available!!
I play once a week, I've been booking tee times for 11 years on Teeoff or Golfnow,
nonetheless I never wrote any negative reviews nor had any bad experience such as this!!!

I booked my 11:10 Fri Oct 21,2022 hot deal tee time online, after playing there the first time was a disappointment. At the time of booking of 18H/cart rate, there was no specification of the back-9 was under construction-only found out the hard way that everyone has to play the front-9 twice! Furthermore, during check-in at the Pro Shop the clerk had no courtesy of mentioning- the back 9 was under construction, as a result, must play the front9 twice.
Also, I paid for cart rate, the clerk forced me to ride together with a stranger!!
Even though, there were plenty of carts available.

never wrote any negative reviews nor had bad experience of misleading and dishonesty such as this.!!!
Mis-advertised
This is a 9-hole course but advertised as 18 holes. Had I known it’s 9 holes, I wouldn’t have travelled 35 miles to play 9 holes twice. I found that the course was 18 holes but changed to 9 holes several years ago without updating the course website information. Additionally, Yardage provided by GPS for 7 of the 9 holes is off, in some case, by nearly 400 yds. The course staff couldn’t explain why the GPS yardage given by 3 devices is nearly identical; but significantly different than the advertised yardage. My guess is the yardage given is for the deleted holes. .This is totally unacceptable and waste of $78 (2 players) as well as my time.
We are new golfers and had a great time
My friends and I have been golfing for a few months and this course was a lot of fun and the staff were super nice and helpful
6 hours ....behind a 5 ball and nobody cared
What a mess, we played 18 holes and it took 6 hours in 95F heat with no water to drink on the course and no drinks cart. Someone could die and so it was a full day and we all talked about it all day long, no fun.
When we told the guy behind the counter at the turn he said he would come out and get the group in front to let us thru. He never did.
Avoid this place.
nine twice
Only complaint was that the course had nine holes that you played twice. I probably wouldn't' have booked it if I'd known that. My problem was really with my scoring app which had the old layout and was useless.
Stay away from this course
Went there all the way from Santa Rosa on a hot deal the kid told me that the hot deal says that I'm supposed to play and ride with somebody else I told them you're tripping and that you're pulling a scam he told me I would have to pay $20 in order to ride by myself so I took $20 out and told them if you take this $20 I'm forced to write a bad review so here I am
Great Little (But Big) Course
Great little course with the carts. Each hole is interesting. Had a great time. We went when it was about 200 degrees outside but what a blast. The greens were well taken care of and the fairways are unmatchable. Thanks again.
My GPS watch did not work here--mismash layout
You get about what your pay for -- the same 9 holes twice.
Good value
The course was enjoyable to play, and could not beat the rate for a weekend day! I was not aware that this course is a 9 hole course you play twice for the 18 holes, so should be noted!
