Shadow Lakes Club
About
Shadow Lakes Golf Club sprawls across rolling hills with Mount Diablo looming in the background. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the course, providing both challenges and scenic views of the East Bay Area. The undulations of the terrain range from subtle to dramatic and helped to determine the strategic placement of the sharply sculpted bunkers, of which there are many. The design of the golf course blends seamlessly with the existing landscape with swaths of native grasses outlining each hole and natural rocky outcroppings coming into play throughout. The course incorporates links-style characteristics as well as a variety of different challenges including water hazards and deep rough. One particularly memorable water hole is the par-4 16th. This is Shadow Lakes Golf Club's signature hole that features an island green that slopes in front, back into the water.

Bang for your buck
Greens were perfect.lovethis course.ifugetachancetoplaythiscourseordeerridgeyoushould
Nice course
In good condition. The golf shop said to check in with the starter...but there wasn't any starter... kinda weird..groups just went out on there own....not a big deal, but strange.
6 hour rounds
If you like 6 hour rounds and tee times that start 45 minutes after the time that you booked. As well as carts that won't make it through the whole course and sand traps that are rock hard and don't require raking then I highly recommend this course. If you prefer a normal golf experience then this place isn't for you. I wouldn't play it again for free!!
Great value for a nice course
Reserved tee time using one of online booking and got a terrific deal. Played around noon on a weekday. Tee boxes were a bit used up from earlier play, but they were still in good condition. Fairways are in good shape although a few areas were too wet, probably from earlier rainfall. Greens are in good shape but with many ball marks left by previous players. As expected, grass was a bit long due to growth from last mowing. But overall, course is a pleasure to play! Kudos to the staff.
Key Part of Antioch/Brentwood golf Mecca
Shadow Lakes offers fun holes, made more difficult during blustery days. Clubhouse staff nice. Casual 19th hole setting. Has full driving range, unlike Deer Ridge. Lots of geese and their gifts. Get a deal to get great value.
Good course, great value, slooooow play
I like this course. It takes me 1.5 hours to drive here. But I still like it because of its great value and contra-traffic for me. I've experienced slow play couple times, but not that slow last time I played. It was more than 5.5 hours. I guess there are a lot high handicappers play here because of its cheap price. I am not against slow players, they need a place to play anyway. But if you are serious about your game, the playing path will kill your game. Tip to play well at this course: take a Yoga meditation class before you play here.
Great Course, beautiful water holes
Great course and facility.....bunkers need a lot of help... too much compacted sand....like hitting on bare dirt
No cold water for players on golf course
The temperature is about 98 - 100 on the course in the afternoon.
All the water coolers on the course were empty. The drink golf cart came by once on hole # 2, and we did not see her again all day. It was very hot here, and we couldn't get cold water.
I'll not play here again unless I bring my owe cooler with cold water.
Very Nice Track.
Great course for the money. I would recommend to all. Pace of play was great and course was challenging. Well manicured fairways.
Long Hilly course not to be passed up!
The greens with subtle slopes and undulating elevations were equally as challenging as the course layout itself. It requires all your experience for your shot making technique with severe uphill lies and down hill.lies. Who needs a links course when you can get all the challenge with fine country course?
Not all was ok however: Not enough sand in bunkers. There was an abundance of duck residue on a back nine water holes made the fairways unplayable in many spots. Occasionally there was inconsistent speed from the greens.
The staff were super at the bar and the fellows managing the golf carts. It would have been nice if the pro shop was staffed by experienced golfers. Not to worry.
Do yourself a favor make the trip and not pass up this great golf course.
Outstanding staff, and overall great facility
This course was in great shape in these drought conditions. The greens were in great shape really green and not dryed out. They rolled a little bumpy but not all greens. The fairways looked amazing for the limited watering I am sure they are allowed. The roughs were even nice and full and green. Tee boxes could use some attention from the staff and care from golfers, had quite a few unrepaired divots. My one major complaint is they badly need to add sand to their dirt bunkers, this was so horrible when you do end up in the bunker you at least want a decent amount of sand to properly hit a shot from. These did not even have a hint of sand all bare hard packed dirt, fairway and green side bunkers.
The staff was exceptional from the clubhouse check in to the bar tender and course Marshall. All happy to greet you and help make your round better any way they could. It was a warm afternoon and the bar tender made killer Arnold Palmer drinks.
Fun
Always a tough course for me. But it's always entertaining.
The course was excellent except it was a little dry, as expected.
This a great course. However it is somewhat dry. The staff, facilities and food is excellent.
No Flat Lies
Every hole on this course has plenty of sloped fairways making for plenty of challenges. There is also water to keep play interesting. The greens were fairly fast and with plenty of break.
Be aware there are three holes (other than the par 3's) you cannot take the cart onto the fairway. One hole is straight up hill. For some, this can be quite difficult.
The day we played the temperature got into the mid-90's. Drink plenty of water.
Deer Ridge GC is nearby to make 36 good holes.
Great course
Course in excellent shape, wide open pace of play sometimes. Very challenging course not your typical flat course. Fairways and greens in very good shape.
Good mix of easy and challlenging holes
I typically play this course 5 - 8 times per year. The course is challenging, but fair. There are obvious locations where you are supposed to hit the ball and and trouble if you do not hit these areas. The course is in good condition, especially considering the 4-year drought. There may be too much watering in some locations. The bunkers could use a little work. Many were wet and compacted. Greens are in very good shape. Staff is very friendly, especially the weekend starter.
Always a great time
Have played here numerous times. Always enjoyable. Staff very friendly. We will keep on playing here.
Good round with some great views
I decided to venture out about a 1/2 hour from home to play today. After a nice drive along the Delta I arrived at the course were I was met by two polite attentants in the pro shop. They set me up with my cart and a bucket. Good news, you hit off grass at the range. After I warmed up I headed over to the starter and met the threesome I was joining for the day. These guys play here often and offered plenty of course management suggestions through out the round (thanks Jay!!)
The starter was great. It was very crowded today and he kept it light and calm on the first tee and most importantly he kept the line moving.
The course is in great shape. The holes offered plenty of variety, challenges, and risk reward. Bottom-line; some holes you can just rip it and others require some finesse.
Over all it was a good day of golf that I got to share with a good threesome. Oh, and if you head to Shadow Lake in the morning hit up Willy's Bagels for breakfast, it's right next to the course.
Great track
the greens here is indeed one of the best around the Bay Area. Great condition and decent prices,I look forward to play again.
