Brutal Pace of Play
Have played there numerous times without incident before but on this occasion, round took 5:20 to play. That is horrendous and inexcusable. It wasn't the pace of play that bothered me so much as it was the apathetic attitude by the staff when I called in to the pro shop from the fourth tee. They sent a ranger to do a drive by to pacify us but that was the only time we saw a ranger all day. I drive 45-60 minutes each way to and from the city 4-5 times a year but this will be the last time I play there unless the general manager returns my message to apologize and make it up to me.
Talk Loudly About Whisper Creek
Players should be shouting about Whisper Creek. Course is in outstanding condition, manicured tee to green, greens run quick but not too fast. It was an absolute pleasure to play there (again). Some very challenging holes; but plenty of fair ones too. My 83 didn't quite hold up to my 16 yr old son's one under 71; but worth every dollar to watch him do it. Put it on your Illinois Bucket List for sure.
Better Value than most
Chose this course on a whim because of the early tee time we needed and it turned out to be a great choice. Staff was friendly, rangers went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying our 1st time playing here. Cheaper than nearby Randall Oaks and in way better shape. Manager in the pro shop even gave my buddy a 20% discount on a pair of shoes since we forgot to pack his. I'll be back for sure.
Ver fair course
Course is in very good condition , nice driving range and good value.
5 hours
5 hours of pure torture. teetime at 1136. finished at 445pm. waited on every shot. called clubhouse at 3 hour mark. at hole 11. was told they would send ranger out but saw no ranger. course is in great shape. golf should not take 5+ hours.
Nice course in great shape
Great course but plays slow. Greens are quick. Fairways are in great condition. Landscaping is great. Fun to play but ran about 5 hrs per foursome.
Felt like a member!
From the moment you drive in the staff treats you like a member of a country club. The course was in excellent condition and a good test of golf without beating you up! Greens are large but roll true. Will definitely go back a couple more time this summer even though it is a long drive!
Food was excellent and not over priced!
Anger and frustration over new policies
They no longer allow singles to book on golf now. They did for years. Now, this course, one of my favorites, I can no longer play on instead have to pay full price. No WAY!!!! This whole establishment gets worse and worse.
nice course
Very good course a lot of challenging holes. Course and green conditions very good
While we're young
6 hours & 10 minutes to play 18
Never again
Need better course mgmt. or
have tee times 12 minutes apart
good time.
had fun playing this course....................................
good placement course
One of the toughest par fives in the state. Good consistent conditions and easy to find trouble if your not careful. Just because it's in del webb doesn't mean it's for an older crowd. Very nice facilities and great restaurant.
Course conditions
The fairways were in excellent but the tee boxes and greens were in horrible conditions. It looked like nobody took the time to fix their carpet tears and digits on these areas
fun time
We have played the course several times. Have always enjoyed it except #18. We had to walk on several holes due to recent rainfall, and it was drizzling our day too. Would play it again in a heart beat.
Great course overall, though Par 5's aren't very good.
The only reason I didn't rate the course higher was b/c of 3 out of the 4 Par 5's aren't very good holes and some of the bunkers had either large rocks or needed to be redone (hole 9 green side bunker as an example). If you are a longer hitter, you can't hit driver off the tee as water comes into play about 260 yds out. The conditions, especially rough/fairways/tee boxes were awesome. The rough on most holes is very challenging and is makes the course tough. So keep in the driver in the bag on many holes and hit something you can keep in the fairway. Greens were in great shape excellent for the ball marks that many of you reading this review forgot to fix. My only complaint was that some of the bunkers (both fairway and greenside) had large than pebble-size rocks in them. They would definitely damage your club is you didn't move them prior to hitting your shot. Also one greenside bunker, I believe #9, was pretty much unplayable. Besides that little complaint, the course is very nice and well worth the drive from the city.
Challenging par 5 holes
If you think you are going to kill the par 5 with a long drive is not going happened here, really tough holes to be play smart and safe
Steve
I do love the facilities surrounding the course, the course itself, the staff but the pace is atrocious. We actually left at the 15 hole when we were 4.5 hrs into it. Easily would have been another 45 min if not more. We were told to come late afternoon next time when the pace of play drastically reduces.
Way too slow
Course was in great condition. This was slowest round played in a few years. Need ranger to speed up play.
Great Course
This is a Beautiful , and some what challenging couse. The staff is outstanding! I reccomend this to all my friends and Jameson's is great for drinks and food afterwards!
