nice course
a little tough to hold the greens. but a good test of skill. pace of play was a joke.
Nice course, very fair, excellent condition
Pace of play only major complaint, tee time process needs improvement
Well maintained. Excellent price
Pace of play was good. Staff was very cordial. Course is well maintained. Great price. Gonna play this course again. Well worth the price.
"I'll be back!"
Played early Satu rday morning and was impressed by the quality of the staff and the course. Fairway to green was well maintained but, bunkers were less than average #Please send sand!!!#[I was only in two bunkers for the round. My advise...Go Play!
Enjoyed the course and played quickly.
Just the right amount of challenge. The GPS is very helpful.
Great value
At $50 w/ cart, Whisper Creek is a terrific value. It has a pretty nice, though not spectacular, layout featuring undulating greens, punishing fescue grass, and swales that collect inaccurate approach shots. If it was located 15 miles closer to Chicago it would definitely be a $70 course.
Great course for the money.
It's a nice course in good condition, but not immaculate like some reviews stated. Considering the amount of rain we've had this summer, and the cool weather recently, there were still some bare spots, and not just along the cart path. For some reason there were 4 holes you couldn't drive on, I forgot on one of them, and the fairway was soaked and super soft. Maybe they had an issue with the sprinkler system.
The course layout isn't super difficult, but it's nice looking. We didn't play from the tips (red), but the next box up, think it was green. Distance played like average course. Thought it would be a little longer, even from the green tee box, based on the 7,100 yd description. Rolling fairways, and they were good shape, but there wasn't an approach shot I had to club up or down more than one club.
Most difficult part of the course seemed to be the greens. Most were pretty big, and they were running fast. But, when you were putting into the grain, they slowed considerably. Many of the breaks were subtle, and pretty hard to read. Seemed to roll pretty true.
Couple "comfort stations" on the course, good sized snack shop which is in front of the driving range, and you pass it on the way to the 10th tee box.
It did take us over 4 1/2 hours to play, and we were a group of 3. The front 9 is pretty spread out, so you drive a bit between holes, and there were the four holes we couldn't drive on, so maybe that contributed. If I hadn't been drinking that day, I would have been extremely unhappy about the pace of play.
The course is located in the Del Webb over 55 community. We tee off at 11:32, and there were a lot of older gents outside the snack shop when we started, so I would assume you wouldn't want to play early in the morning.
It was a 50 minute drive for me, I would go back for $31 again, but it wasn't sooooooo good I would go out of my way to play for $45-60. Excellent customer service, everyone we came in contact w/was very nice and accommodating. Very easy to get there from I-90, if you live in the area or can get there quickly, definitely worth the trip!
the course played great, the green were speedy on the back 9 and had been top dressed on the front 9
course was in good shape. the front 9 greens needed some work and the back 9 were in good shape.
HANDS DOWN BEST COURSE IN AREA!!!!
This is my favorite golf course in northwest subrubs area! This course feels like a championship golf course but the prices are extremely low! If you haven't already been to Whisper Creek go today you will not be dissapointed!!!
very well kept
Probably one of the best kept courses I've ever played especially for the money. Wish this course was closer so I could play it more.
Great condition, great greens
Quick greens, roll great. Some very challenging holes if you have not played the course before. During the week, I'd pay $35 every day, great value. The only down fall is the "GPS ranger system." They track all the carts based on their gps location and never once saw a person come out and explain why there were some random backups. No Bev cart on Monday but friendly staff at halfway house can load up coolers before round or at turn. I'll take the trip up to Huntley a few more times this year
Over booked!
Great course and will play it again. The problem was the time it took to complete the round - (5+) hours, not good. I don't know if it was overbooking or slow golfers. They need to better control the pace of play so that it would make golfing there excellant.
Great course always in good shape
Great course. Very Challenging. Greens are true and very fast.
Wish it was a little closer to home.
Nice course. A fun mix of open holes along with some inventive ones containing interesting challenges without being overly punitive.
Whisper Creek is a fun and challenging course with a variety of holes. The fairways offer wide landing areas and inventive hazards. A nice place to play if you're willing to drive out to Huntley.
Well maintained, challenging course...
I live on the North Side, so trekking to Whisper Creek is a commitment - especially during construction season. It's well worth the drive. The course is always well maintained and the greens are pure. Staff is friendly and pace of play is good. They layout requires some local knowledge - read the blurbs included on the cart GPS!
One gripe - the mayflies! We played an early morning round and they were intrusive! I understand the course is on certified wetlands, but perhaps some minimal spraying of the tee-boxes and greens. Tough to focus on hitting quality shots or making good putts with bugs flying up you nose and in your ears. I know, you're in nature, so you should expect the 'nature' to be part of your round, but they were REALLY bad.
Also, how about just having the cart GPS provide yardage hole information instead of using it for advertisements between every hole? An unneeded distraction when you're trying to focus on your round.
But overall, a GREAT value and gem of a course!
A very fair and well maintained course. Staff is phenominal.
This course has everything for the golfer. Whether you are a scratch player or a high handicapper. Fairways are generous and playing from the correct Tees will definitely enchance your round. If it was a little closer it could easily become my home course.
This course is a great challenge.
I really like playing this course, it is very challenging and is well maintained, the par five holes are long but very wide open I can't wait to play again.
Slow play - No ranger.
Slow play on a week day is unexpected and detracted from enjoyment of the round and the course. Never saw a ranger on the course attempting to speed up play.
Greens
the course is a nice layout with many tees. However the last two times I have played here conditions have been questionable. Yesterday the rough was exceptionally long and the greens had been aerated and sanded and were difficult to putt.
As usual though the staff is great.
