friends enjoying golf Photo submitted by u998302706 on 10/23/2020
Well maintained, challenging course...
I live on the North Side, so trekking to Whisper Creek is a commitment - especially during construction season. It's well worth the drive. The course is always well maintained and the greens are pure. Staff is friendly and pace of play is good. They layout requires some local knowledge - read the blurbs included on the cart GPS!
One gripe - the mayflies! We played an early morning round and they were intrusive! I understand the course is on certified wetlands, but perhaps some minimal spraying of the tee-boxes and greens. Tough to focus on hitting quality shots or making good putts with bugs flying up you nose and in your ears. I know, you're in nature, so you should expect the 'nature' to be part of your round, but they were REALLY bad.
Also, how about just having the cart GPS provide yardage hole information instead of using it for advertisements between every hole? An unneeded distraction when you're trying to focus on your round.
But overall, a GREAT value and gem of a course!
A very fair and well maintained course. Staff is phenominal.
This course has everything for the golfer. Whether you are a scratch player or a high handicapper. Fairways are generous and playing from the correct Tees will definitely enchance your round. If it was a little closer it could easily become my home course.
This course is a great challenge.
I really like playing this course, it is very challenging and is well maintained, the par five holes are long but very wide open I can't wait to play again.
Slow play - No ranger.
Slow play on a week day is unexpected and detracted from enjoyment of the round and the course. Never saw a ranger on the course attempting to speed up play.
Greens
the course is a nice layout with many tees. However the last two times I have played here conditions have been questionable. Yesterday the rough was exceptionally long and the greens had been aerated and sanded and were difficult to putt.
As usual though the staff is great.
Very nice layout, superior condition, friendly staff - a real value
Whisper Creek is a hidden gem - The course is generally in great condition; the greens are consistent and fast, the rough is tough, the white sand bunkers are a nice touch, and the course staff are helpful and friendly. The overall layout offers challenges for golfers of all levels, and the great GPS system can be a real help here, as many of the potential trouble spots are not readily visible. Though Whisper Creek is a little off the beaten path, this course is a good value, and worth the trip.
Nice course, needs some TLC.
With a 73.7 rating and 133 slope this course offers plenty of challenge from the tips. From one tee up, it was moderately challenging for me (10HCP). The design rewards good shots and moderately punishes bad ones.
The only complaint I really have with this course was its condition. At $45 on GolfNow, the value was average. At the full rack rate I would have been disappointed. If the course were in pristine shape , I wouldn't have been disappointed paying $75.
I will be back to play it, hopefully next time it's in a little better shape.
Great Staff, nice course...overall pleasant experience.
The course is fine, not a fan of some of the par 5's where the driver is negated. The spring has been terrible so to mention condition is unfair but other than some wet conditions the course and greens especially are in very good shape considering. Overall it was a pleasant time.
The course wasn't overly long but the greens were true. It could of been maintained much better.
The staff was extremely kind and welcoming. The course had some difficult holes and the greens ran very true. If you get a hot deal I would fecommend it otherwise a bit pricey in respect to other courses with the same type of length and difficulty. I rated it 4 stars because the staff was super friendly and the bar lounge had various selections for libations as well as excellent food. Very nice clubhouse.
Played in December
The course was in good shape considering it was December. The greens rolled true. I look forward to playing here during the summer.
Excellant course but do to time of year it was worn
Love playing this course it was the third time this year. Course seemed in bad shape but I think that time year was A factor.
Challenging course that requires every club in your bag
Challenging but fair, this course rewards accurate shots. Not a lot of trees, but the sand and rough make you want to keep it in the fairway. It's beautifully manicured, with stone outcroppings, water hazards, and plenty of bunkers. The only complaint we had was that the greens were extremely firm; we had a hard time getting a pitch to hold. However, they rolled true but fast once you got on the green. I will continue to play this course, especially with some of the specials they have. It's a great value.
AFTER WE FINISHED CARS COVERED WITH WHITE FILM
COURSE WAS NICE,BUT WHEN WE GOT BACK TO OUR CARS THEY WERE COVERED WITH A WATER LIKE? AS IT DRYED IT LEFT A WHITE COLOR ALL OVER THE CARS! CALLED CULB HOUSE THEY ARE NOT RESPONCEABLE AND THEY SAID SOMEONE ELSE IS? THAT GIVE ME A TRUE WARM FUSSY FEELING? THEY ARE PROBLY NOT RESPONCEABLR FOR ANYTHINK AT THEIR COURES?????????
good holes that you will remember
the course is in great shap green are in good shap and the fairways are in good shap as well. i think 15 out of the 18 holes are very remembralbe.
very scenic.
Great course plays a little slow on the weekends.otherwise beautiful.
Swing and miss
This course seems to try and be upscale but in my opinion fails. The course was generaly in mediocre shape. Fairways were a bit shabby. Greens were shaggy. Pace of play was prety slow and I did not find the holes to be all that interesting. I might give this course one more chance at a different time of the year but if I find the same issues probably would not try again.
