Eaglewood Resort & Spa
About
Located just northwest of Chicago, the Eaglewood Resort & Spa opened for play in 1932. It is a classic championship golf course, built during a time when the long drive was unheard of. The 6,017-yard layout seems short by today's standards, but the course still offers a formidable challenge. It features rolling fairways lined with century-old oak trees and wildly undulating, difficult-to-read greens with varying speeds that fluctuate depending on the weather, season, and even time of day. There are generous landing areas but they are bordered by deep, strategically placed bunkers that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The carefully sculpted and plentiful bunkers are a prominent feature of the layout. Eaglewood's scenic landscape also has three lakes that come into play on eight holes.

Only took me 30 years! Photo submitted by rjhmu on 11/04/2012
Incredibly disappointed!
I don’t even know where to begin. It was a rainy sloppy day, week actually, but I called about an hour before I planned on arriving to the course to confirm that they were closed. It had been raining for the last two days and the forecast showed rain into the next couple.
The guy at the golf shop actually said on a recorded line that it was dry out there and they were letting people out BUT if I wanted to come early it was wide open, very contradicting. If it was dry and this is supposedly one of the nicest courses in the area why would it be wide-open on a Sunday? I go about my business and proceed towards the course but something in my gut told me to call one more time and a new person answered the phone.
I recapped the conversation with the last person and she sounded surprised because she said it was raining and she understood I didn’t want to drive an hour to get rained out. She reconnected me with the first person I spoke with at the golf shop and we verbally confirm that I was looking to cancel because of the weather and he agrees. Even then tells me I have nothing to worry about and TeeOff will see that it was bad weather and I will get my money back. So I call into TeeOff and they call the course to confirm everything and get THIS… the guy in the golf shop actually flips 180 on me and says they are dry and it’s green light, wide-open! Thus causing Tee Off to refuse my cancellation. What an experience! I’ll never golf this course again. Also copying and pasting this review to every platform.
Resturant
Anna Marie the girl taking care of carts very polite and humble sorry to say the bar tender looked left and right
They were out of napkins came to grab coffee at the 10th hole no coffee was available it was a bit cold a good day for coffee but alas
Good, not great
Nice course. Greens were a little slow, but overall course was in good shape. Not sure what the Rangers job was as he hovered over our group for what seemed like 14 of the 18 holes. Made for an awkward round.
Short
Course had many short par fours and fives. It was a fun set up some interesting holes. Only negative was the the traps were in terrible shape.
Happy to revisit again
I played this course about 20 years ago in an after-work league and decided to pay a visit and take the family for Father's Day. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Course was in very good condition. Pace of play was smooth. All-in-all a great day.
Great time
Fun course, short but challenging at the same time. Jeremy and the pro shop staff are always great. Good food in the restaurant after your round. Pace of play could be better but still always a fun time here
Poor tournament management
let me start by saying that I enjoyed playing this course. the greens, tee boxes and fairways we're in very good shape. the bunkers could use some decent sand. the staff is friendly and the carts were clean. we started out playing at a good pace. and then shortly we caught up with nine individuals teeing off all at once as part of a tournament. at times there would be eight people on a green putting. this just is unacceptable. as a result the pace of play was approximately 5 hours. I'd recommend this course so long as you contact them first to find out if there's a tournament going on as the tournament management was just horrible.
Sand traps
Overall a good experience. It is a short sporty course. Greens rolled nice. The sand traps were in poor condition. A few tee boxes for the back tees were uneveen.
1st time
Well layer out. Good fairways and forgiving greens
Would go back
I was pleasantly surprised at the good pace of play, even though it was a holiday. Conditions were good on the course and the experience overall was a good one.
Super Fun course
This course is short but so fun. It’s not an unforgettable course in any way but it is the type of course you could play weekly and be happy for all your days! I will be coming back for years.
The greens were slow. They needed to be cut or rolled out. I always enjoy this course but the greens were not the pace that I have known in past rounds.
