Eaglewood Resort & Spa
About
Located just northwest of Chicago, the Eaglewood Resort & Spa opened for play in 1932. It is a classic championship golf course, built during a time when the long drive was unheard of. The 6,017-yard layout seems short by today's standards, but the course still offers a formidable challenge. It features rolling fairways lined with century-old oak trees and wildly undulating, difficult-to-read greens with varying speeds that fluctuate depending on the weather, season, and even time of day. There are generous landing areas but they are bordered by deep, strategically placed bunkers that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The carefully sculpted and plentiful bunkers are a prominent feature of the layout. Eaglewood's scenic landscape also has three lakes that come into play on eight holes.

You'll enjoy this course
The fairways are keep in nice condition and the greens are moderately fast. Restrooms (porta potties) are in very good condition and the course offers really nice challenges including sloped greens, water hazards and sand traps. You'll enjoy it
First visit thoughts
Thanks to Mother’s Day and some cooler weather, the course was wide open today so I was able to fly through in 2 hours 30 minutes. Due to recent rain the course was cart path only, but I thought it was in good shape in the vast majority of areas despite the recent rain. I thought the fairways were a bit shaggy, but overall in good condition. The carts seemed to be brand new and included one of the quietest motors I’ve recently experienced and had a built in ball washer and club cleaner that was a nice touch. I’m guessing this is supposed to make up for not having any ball washers at the tee boxes. I was a little disappointed that the course’s water coolers weren’t stocked today, as each of the water coolers I found was completely empty.
While this course is significant shorter than most courses I play, there are a few longer par 3s that can be challenging without a good tee shot. The typical par 4s are incredibly short and didn’t demand anything more than a mid to long iron layup or a 5 wood for a few of the slightly longer ones. I found myself hitting about 70 percent of the greens in regulation which is a bit higher than my usual average, but unfortunately I wasn’t putting well enough today to make any reasonable birdie opportunities I was faced with.
Overall, this was a respectable course that I would like to play again when I can find another good deal on the rates as I think their normally posted rates are higher than warranted. Hopefully my next visit will be made on another day when I can play quickly and hopefully make some birdie putts!
Old Nordic.
I love playing this course. I get a comfortable feeling playing here . Its challenging for the intermediate golfer . Will play again .
Great course with great price!
It is pleasant surprise with a nice course in such a bargain price...5 stars plus
Fun course to play and it’s in good condition. Every time I have played theirs is always one slow group which creates a backup. Wish they had rangers to help move slowpokes along.
Nice Course
Course is a great value , is a short course just over 6000 yds from tips but it has a great lay out. Playing it again tomorrow!!!!
Hidden golf gem of Chicagoland.
Great golf course to bring your friends for a quick round of golf. Deceivingly short but the great layout makes it very challenging to play. Greens are fast and well guarded by deep bunkers. The course in general is well maintained with super friendly staff from the pro shop to the grounds keeper. Location is very easily accessible as it is very close to I-290 and 355. Will always comeback to play a round at least once a week as long as weather permitting.
Short and slow
Most par fours are under 300 yards and the pace is very slow considering. Numerous sand bunkers do Protect the Green can make it tricky. Where are the rangers?
Eagle wood golf resort
Great course to play . I feel comfortable playing here . Has some challenging holes with deep bunkers and pitched greens . The course was in great shape .
Nice layout in very good condition
Eagle wood has a few quirky holes, but overall is a good and fair test of your golf skills. The rough is medium length, requiring some strength to dig out your ball, and good tracking skills to find it in the rough. Some holes have tight fairways requiring straight drives. Greens were in pretty good condition, with a few ball marks, but generally much better than most of the public courses in the area. I went back to this course despite a long drive from downtown Chicago because it is among the best courses i’ve played this year in the Chicago area.
Great Putting Greens
A tight course, and challenging. The greens are tough, but you’ll earn every putt - will definitely come back and play again soon.
