Eaglewood Resort & Spa
About
Located just northwest of Chicago, the Eaglewood Resort & Spa opened for play in 1932. It is a classic championship golf course, built during a time when the long drive was unheard of. The 6,017-yard layout seems short by today's standards, but the course still offers a formidable challenge. It features rolling fairways lined with century-old oak trees and wildly undulating, difficult-to-read greens with varying speeds that fluctuate depending on the weather, season, and even time of day. There are generous landing areas but they are bordered by deep, strategically placed bunkers that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The carefully sculpted and plentiful bunkers are a prominent feature of the layout. Eaglewood's scenic landscape also has three lakes that come into play on eight holes.

Top Notch Course
This is a top notch course that is kept in pristine condition. It is a shorter course, but lots of water and sand to make it difficult.
Eagle wood
I love playing here , have a comfortable feeling . Has some changing holes with some tuff pin placement .
Good Potential, Painfully Slow
Although the course was soaked due to recent rain, we could tell that it would normally play well. It had interesting holes with narrow fairways. That said, the pace of play was abysmal. It took us 5.5 hours RIDING. The course layout had holes using the same cart paths which meant there were constant groups on our fairway when we were teeing off. Etiquette-wise, no one yelled fore when their shots approached us and we almost got hit 3 times (no exaggeration). We were told there was a "driving range". Loose definition. They meant 4 mats with a net and balls that you picked up from behind the net. I was disappointed by my experience as the course had good potential.
Narrow
Narrow course. We teed off in an early afternoon gap and did not experience delays. We could see lots of people standing around waiting on the back 9.
Would be a great course if tee times were moved to 10 min to avoid overcrowding, backups, and far too many errant shots from other groups.
Worst experience
I have been playing this course for years but had the worst experience playing on Father’s Day. We paid a premium price with a course that allowed no course etiquette.
Albeit Father’s Day is a day to spend with your kids, taking them to a golf course that is beyond their size and allowing them to have 15 hacks until they get it to the green is rediculous. That’s is why we have Par 3 courses that are more suitable for younger kids.
Concerned about the pace, we mentioned to the ranger that the pace was stagnate to only get a response “there is nothing I can do”.
Further the course was not well maintained. Uneven spots on the greens and concrete sand traps. To add insult to injury, rain from several days ago restricted the back 9 to cart path only.
A disclose making aware the course rules, or lack thereof, that was going to be allowed on fathers days would have been nice before booking a tee time.
Will NEVER Play Here Again
9:12a tee time where we teed off 9:25. The course was backed up worse than any I had ever seen. Cart path only on a day that was 94 degrees. LIterally every hole you are in danger of being hit by someone's shot. At the fourth hole there were 3 foursomes waiting to tee off and the whole wait there were shots flying by us all waiting. If you played a drinking game where every time your heard "FORE" you would be drunk by the 5th hole. To boot, no free water. 94 degrees, 6+ hour round, cart path only and they want to charge everyone $2 for a bottle of water. We left after 9 holes and I will NEVER be back there again.
6.5 hour round
Fun little course but absolutely mismanaged, 6.5 hr round... teed off 30 min begind schedule and took us 2hrs to get to tee off at 5th hole. 4th hole is blind fairway no ranger helping out with 3 foursomes waiting. Could be fun little track but chaos out there. Ps never wrote a review in my life but 7 hr day at the course is loooong one
Short track
Slow play, short course, holes are very close together. With the exception of 2 or 3 greens, the course was in good shape.
Condition
We had bad Storm day before back nine was closed. I like course laying out.
Eaglewood Golf Resort - Hidden Gem
Never knew this course was here! Not a long course but will make you think off the tee. Placement is important. Great value with my Hot Deal!
Great Course
Pace of play was fast. Never felt rushed and the course was in great shape. There’s a nice restaurant with a great patio area for beers after your round.
Hidden gem
This course has everything. Up, down all around great course. Been playing it for many, many years and every single year it gets a little better. The best thing about this course is the staff. Friendly kind and courteous people all around. Top notch all the way. You’ll use every club you have in your bag and be challenged by some of the most diabolical greens anywhere, but its all fun. Pure fun!
Hidden Gem!
Great value for the money and an excellent 19th hole. Not the longest course you will play but it will challenge even the most skilled golfer. Highly recommended.
Challenging Course, Great value
Highly recommended to play the back tees, it makes a challenging round. If you play the forward tees it is a completely different course and much easier.
