Cherry Blossom great course
It was a cold morning starting off. But everything went well we were stacked up behind a couple of foursomes ended up playing pretty quick until number 12 and then we started kitchen with course was in great shape
First time
Overall a good first time experience, tee boxes were somewhat need of repair but the course for the most part was in great shape. A bit pricy for golf now rates but would play again.
Sunday funday
Great course. Always in great shape. Slow today the was a 6em in front of us. Not cool on a Sunday.
Overbooked
Afternoon twilight special rate --- way overbooked, was fulling a five some, who was following a foursome, who was following a foursome, so no chance to pass (did not finish 18). FIvesomes should not be allowed.
Disappointing
I hadn’t played Cherry Blossom in about 7-8 years. It was always one of the best in all of Lexington area. Very disappointing to see the condition it’s in right now. Fairways are either long and soaked or completely dead. Tee boxes need mowed and more importantly the divots need fixed. Course is still a great layout, just can’t believe it has dropped off this far.
Double bogey, at least for now
I would love to give Cherry Blossom a higher rating because I’ve played there in years past and really enjoyed it... but unfortunately I’m sticking with one star until I see significant improvement.
Played the course In a foursome during the 4th of July weekend 2020. Started off unable to get a cart until about 3 minutes before our tee time. We had to grab two that had not been cleaned. Directly behind us were a single and 4 twosomes, all of which we let play through. Strike one for poor scheduling.
The rough was completely dried out and crispy, with patches of bare dirt spots. In the areas where the rough had access to water, it was green and so thick that greenside chipping was a nightmare. The tee boxes were beat up, unkempt, and unleveled. The greens were also very dry and beat up, having an almost “springy” effect if hit from more than 50 yards out. Strike two for upkeep.
At more than $40, the course demands a premium price for the area. While reasonable in comparison to the golf prices in tourist destinations, the fact is that you can play almost any course in the area for less. The premium price does not provide a premium experience. Strike three for value.
To summarize, I cannot recommend this course until some major changes are made. There are a number of courses in the area that provide a better experience with better upkeep for a better price.
Poor pace of play
Played here for the first time this morning. Waited on the the tee box no less than 10 minutes each hole on the front 9. There was an extremely slow group two ahead of ours that was holding everyone up. No ranger in sight, no one keeping pace. I guess if you are a member here than you can play as slow as you want? Luckily they let us play around them during the back nine. It was brutal!
The course itself was fun and well-maintained. The greens were great, tee boxes were flat and in good condition, and there was a nice mix of holes.
However, I would think twice about playing here again, unless pace of play somehow is monitored or improved. It’s difficult to have fun when you wait so long on each hole. If it wasn’t for the very poor management, I would have given this course a better rating. I can’t imagine what it is like during a weekend round if it was this slow on a Thursday.
To have any critism of this course you have to nit pik
This is a beautiful course, to have any critism of this course you have to nit pik. It is an easy course to find your way around, the driving areas are generous, the greens are fairly fast but very smooth and easy to putt. Except for 17 & 18 not real tricky to navigate. 17 & 18 both almost appear to be designed by a different designer. 17 is tight with a dogleg and water right. 18 reminds me of some of the Myrtle Beach holes with bunkering defining the fairway and water right of green and up right side but doesn't really come into play until you get up by the green. Love this course.
Nice course
The only thing I didn’t like about this course was there was no yardage markers. They usually have GPS but that was down. Out of 18 holes I found maybe 10 sprinkler heads that had a number. I’m not asking to have exact yardage but when you haven’t played a course a marker somewhere helps. It can be in the fairway or off in the rough but just some type of yardage reference would have been nice.
Great price
Great course with a very good value for the money especially if you are a senior
We started out with 4 people ahead us when got to the 13 th and then there was 7 and 3 more joined them in front us !! I will not be back!!!!
Social Distancing Golf
Course was in beautiful shape, only problems encountered were carts were 1 PP but were out of juice before 9 holes, and no TP in either men's or women's bathrooms and on the portal on the course. Yes there's a TP shortage, but at least put something in the stalls and paper towels in the portal.
Extraordinary times
Played this course during COVID-19 shut down. All things considered the course was doing a terrific job. Great shape for early spring. No amenities could be expected just truly happy to play. THANKS Cherry Blossom.
Great Course
We arrived prior to our tee time as most golfers do and unfortunately the course was on a frost delay (which is understandable this time of year) the staff were very kind and helpful and communicated with us throughout the entirety of the ordeal. We were to be the first off and the staff made sure that nobody got ahead of us as we had waited for X amount of time. Course was in great condition, and the staff was amazing. One of my favorite courses here in the Bluegrass.
