Make The Trip!
Sure, it's a little out of the way. But the "bang for the buck" makes it worth it. You will be pleasantly surprised as I was.
Nice grass practice range, putting greens, short game area etc to keep you happy before you tee off. Pick your tees carefully (don't over extend, especially first time out) and you'll have fun with the two distinctly different nines. Course conditions are great and you can play the ball "down" with no problems. Enjoy this off the beaten path gem!
great track slow slow play
Great course. Very slow play. Senior ladies tournament. Ranger told everybody to just go around them. Then come back and play the holes you missed. Took two hours to play five holes then everybody jumping around. Lots of golfers upset
Wonderful day
Golf is all about enjoying the beauty around you and having fun....I did both
Great again
Played 3 days in a row in 100°+ weather. Course was in beautiful shape.
Incredible
Not a difficult course but a perfect day. Greenest fairways in Southern Nevada. Greens were not fast but not slow, perfect for the retirement community. We played in 2 1/2 hours without ever seeing another player. The grill here has always been exceptional for quality and price. Before the round I was able to get a hot dog, corn on the cob, cole slaw, and baked beans for $4. 60 miles from my home in Las Vegas. I wish it was closer.
Definitely worth the drive!
Mountain Falls is a great course with outstandingly nice and professional staff!
I grabbed a $25 rate for a 12:15 tee time on golf now for me and my buddy in town from OC. My wife thought I was nuts for playing at noon in Pahrump at the end of June. But even though it was 105 degrees and certainly hot, we couldn't have asked for a better day of golf.
The course was wide open, the checking at clubhouse was flawless. The bag boys grabbed our bags and gave us a cooler of ice as soon as we checked in.
The Marshall was one of the nicest Marshall's I've run into. The course is in phenomenal shape even though it could easily be baked out. They certainly spend some money on water out at Mountain hills!
We went on Saturday and they had the BBQ going, so we ordered a brat and a hamburger on the 8th tee and we each had a plate of food waiting at the bar when we made the turn. Baked beans, pasta/potato salad and corn on the cob with the brat or cheeseburger... For $5!!! Simply can't beat that!
Bartender was super nice and we took 30 minutes at the turn to eat and cool down with a couple $3 beers.
Back nine at Mountain Hills is beautiful! There are some waterfall features, nice lakes and overall really fun layout. It's not an overly difficult course by any stretch, but you could play it from the tips and certainly be challenged. It's a well designed, non-gimmicky course and would be a fun, playable course for anyone of any skill set.
Obviously the one drawback for this course is that it is 45-60 mins outside of Vegas, but anyone willing to make the drive will have a fabulous round of golf.
Country club service, food, conditions, for less than muni prices!!
Beautiful course well worth the drive
This course is "off the beaten path" but oh my, is it worth the drive. It is in excellent shape. Every fairway is pristine and the putting greens are wonderful. They even have two holes with a chose of which green you want to head towards that would be best be suited to your own talent. Absolutely loved this course and would highly recommend it to any level of golfer.
Worth the Drive
This is a great golf course!!! Very well maintained, impressed. Front nine is good, back nine is GREAT!!! (Different designers for the nines). 45 minute drive, I will be back.
Desert Gem
This is an outstanding course. Large fairways and 5 sets of tees for every level of skill. The GPS was very helpful since this was the first time playing here. The pace of play seemed slow at 4 1/2 hours, but the GPS said we were only 5 minutes behind the accepted rate of play. A very nice experence.
Greatest place to play in Pahrump.
Come play the best course in Nye county the best kept secret in Pahrump.
Great condition.
Worth the drive from Vegas! Probably the best maintained course I played in the area. Enjoyed the course thoroughly and would recommend the course to anyone. Played in 4:15.
great gem
I enjoyed the easy drive up from Vegas. Jack Nicklaus designed the front 9, so it has plenty of sand to trap your errant shots. The greens are large, tiered, fast, and deceptively deceiving.
The back 9 has large bodies of water bordering several holes, and the trees are much larger and mature. Be sure to check with the GPS. I could not see the 1st hole that had water, because it was hidden from view... Over the hill I drove, and looking for my ball saw the water... ooops. This was a fun course, and just as nice as any in Vegas, but without the high price tag. Got it on a Hot Deal for $39... I had dinner at the Grill, and was back in town before dark, ready to party.
out of the way - but worth it
Let me start this off by saying I didn't realize how far Pahrump was from Las Vegas. That being said, we were on vacation and enjoyed the trip through the mountain pass, but probably wouldn't do it again - my fault of course. However, the course is beautiful. Very well maintained, a little more difficult than I thought it would be. The staff were extremely friendly, the beverages were very reasonable. I would recommend it to anyone willing to go drive the extra miles definitely.
What a lovely find in Pahrump!
We enjoy this course. It is different every time we play, depending if there is wind and what direction the wind is blowing.
This is the third Spring we have played this course and are happy to report that the fairways are green and in good condition and the greens are lovely!!
There are enough humps and bumps and sand traps on the fairways to make you plan your shots. There is enough water to keep it challenging and very pretty! Be aware the sand traps have variable hardness.
The staff in the pro shop, the beverage cart persons and the young people in the cart barn are friendly, professional and welcoming.
We were VERY disappointed that our 1:08 tee time worked into a +5 hour round. Even though the (excellent and new) cart GPS kept telling us the "intended" pace of play there was nary a marshal on the course to assist in speeding it up in front of us. Funny ... in years past we have seen and spoken with marshals numerous times ..... did they trade in the marshals when they got the new carts this Spring???
Worth the drive?
So, after prefacing our business trip to Vegas by staying at Entrada and playing Sand Hollow and Sky Mountain in St. George, UT we decided to bookend our trip by making the 1 hr+ drive out to Pahrump late on Friday morning. Hey, the good company made the drive a breeze so what the hey?! We were treated to a spectacularly warm and sunny March day and a golf course that presented a pleasant change from the extremely challenging courses in UT. That's not to say Mountain Falls is a push over. If you don't have a regular player in your group to point out some of the intricacies, it could turn into a round of unpleasant surprises. It's a desert course without forced carries and plenty of landing area off the tees. I liken it to the Desert Course at Primm Valley if you've played there. And at $45 per man, what a bargain! But then again, you've got to figure in the gas to get there depending on where you're coming from.....
The course was in very good, but not great condition. The member we played with said that it was just starting to get into prime condition and they would get the greens rolling faster over the next month or so. Staff was extremely welcoming and remember, the restaurant / bar is in a different building from the pro shop, across the street. Anyway, was it worth the drive? I'd say so!!
Beautiful Course....challenging location!
I played with two other buddies. We started right around noon and were done by 3:45 pm .
The fairways and greens are in excellent shape.
There is desert area but most does not come in to play.
Very friendly staff.
I will definitely be playing here again!
This is always on our list to play when we are in Vegas
We love to play this course when we are in Vegas. It's about an hour drive from the strip, but a beautiful drive into the mountains. The course was in average condition with the back 9 in really good condition. Well worth the green fees.
happy 'n healthy
LOVED this course. Got paired up with a local couple so that helped with advice from them on some of the trickier holes. Slight frost delay but the time was made up pretty quickly and had a great day of golf and cameraderie. The only downside was we lost a Cleveland wedge on one of the holes and it was never turned it - I guess someone needed it more than we did - whoever you are, I hope you are enjoying it. Otherwise, wonderful course!!!
Front nine is plain but the back nine is beautiful.
The practice facilities are excellent. Greens are fast and true.
Worth the drive
Nice course with very courteous staff. It is a drive to Pahrump but this course was worth it. Slow play so we had to stop at only nine holes. Usually that makes it a terrible round but not this time. We enjoyed the course and the weather. They ended up letting my 17 year-old son play for free because of their junior golf policy. We had a great time.
