Worth the drive?
So, after prefacing our business trip to Vegas by staying at Entrada and playing Sand Hollow and Sky Mountain in St. George, UT we decided to bookend our trip by making the 1 hr+ drive out to Pahrump late on Friday morning. Hey, the good company made the drive a breeze so what the hey?! We were treated to a spectacularly warm and sunny March day and a golf course that presented a pleasant change from the extremely challenging courses in UT. That's not to say Mountain Falls is a push over. If you don't have a regular player in your group to point out some of the intricacies, it could turn into a round of unpleasant surprises. It's a desert course without forced carries and plenty of landing area off the tees. I liken it to the Desert Course at Primm Valley if you've played there. And at $45 per man, what a bargain! But then again, you've got to figure in the gas to get there depending on where you're coming from.....
The course was in very good, but not great condition. The member we played with said that it was just starting to get into prime condition and they would get the greens rolling faster over the next month or so. Staff was extremely welcoming and remember, the restaurant / bar is in a different building from the pro shop, across the street. Anyway, was it worth the drive? I'd say so!!
Beautiful Course....challenging location!
I played with two other buddies. We started right around noon and were done by 3:45 pm .
The fairways and greens are in excellent shape.
There is desert area but most does not come in to play.
Very friendly staff.
I will definitely be playing here again!
This is always on our list to play when we are in Vegas
We love to play this course when we are in Vegas. It's about an hour drive from the strip, but a beautiful drive into the mountains. The course was in average condition with the back 9 in really good condition. Well worth the green fees.
happy 'n healthy
LOVED this course. Got paired up with a local couple so that helped with advice from them on some of the trickier holes. Slight frost delay but the time was made up pretty quickly and had a great day of golf and cameraderie. The only downside was we lost a Cleveland wedge on one of the holes and it was never turned it - I guess someone needed it more than we did - whoever you are, I hope you are enjoying it. Otherwise, wonderful course!!!
Front nine is plain but the back nine is beautiful.
The practice facilities are excellent. Greens are fast and true.
Worth the drive
Nice course with very courteous staff. It is a drive to Pahrump but this course was worth it. Slow play so we had to stop at only nine holes. Usually that makes it a terrible round but not this time. We enjoyed the course and the weather. They ended up letting my 17 year-old son play for free because of their junior golf policy. We had a great time.
Mountain Falls
A great winter outing. Getting away from the cold weather up north this is ideal place.
Stayed in Vegas.
Don't miss this GEM
The drive from Vegas to this course is well worth it. Speed limit is 70mph much of the way so less than an hour drive. All rye on the holes so none of the brown you can see in the off season. At one point the ranger said we were the only ones on the course. Two different style nines so that made it interesting. Stopped at the bar after the round and ended up eating their filet and shrimp, it was delicious for $15. Staff very friendly gave me free bucket of balls. Great price on GOLFNOW.
Course was a good value
Enjoyed the course, but unfortunately the chilly weather caused a frost delay and made for some ice on cart paths and icy areas on the fairway to avoid. Having played the course for the first time, the lack of yardage signage with fairway markings or on sprinkler heads made club selection a challenge.
Overall, a very nice staff who did their best to accommodate us.
Play it if you are in the neighbourhood.
I often play golf in Vegas with friends while visiting and on this occasion I was solo and had read the reviews on GolfNow so decided to give Mountain Falls a try. The course is in good condition and looks like it may be the center piece of a residential development. There were some houses on the back 9 and nothing but lots on the front. It was an enjoyable course, good pacing and conditions. If I was in the Pahrump area I would not hesitate to play this course but I don't think it was worth the drive (though somewhat scenic) from Las Vegas. Based on my US golf experience the course was more SE USA than desert golf.
Jack Nicklaus course
Booked this round a month in advance because we wanted to play it on our Las Vegas trip. About 60 miles out of Vegas. Drive was very cool through the Red Rock Mountain range. Course is front nine Jack Nicklaus and back nine Carl Olsen. Both nines are fantastic. We arrived in Vegas with great weather only to get winds up to 40 mph on our day of play. It gets very windy on this course but we still had a great time playing it. Homes are not built yet, so you have no one around you and great views of the surrounding mountains until the homes are built. Fantastic at any price but we lucked out for $15 a piece. Yes, no misprint, a Jack Nicklaus course for $15. Doubt we'll find that again. I'd go again in a heart beat. Too bad I don't live near this one.
nice coarse with nice people
nice coarse but it was a good hour from vegas which is the only drawback.
It's a drive well worth taking when in Vegas.
After reading some reviews of Las Vegas Golf courses, I was intrigued about the positive comments of Mountain Falls Golf Course. I was fully aware of the 50 miles it was from Vegas as I have been to Pahrump before. My only complaint is, I clicked on directions to the course and printed them, only for the directions to be wrong. It took me 45 minutes longer to find. The staff was very accommodating and got me out ASAP. This is a Nicklaus Design Course and it was well worth the adventure. Greens were exceptional for this time of year and overall course conditions were awesome. Worth more than the $45 I paid. Bonus was the great playing partners I was paired with.
Lots of hidden water
Love the grass and the weeping Willow trees. Lots of sand.
Great course. Fair price. No Aerification alert.
No alert from course or golfnow that the greens were punched and sanded
Very senic
Great course, great condition, friendly, helpful staff,
Very well maintained. Amazing conditions for this time of year.
This was our first time at this course. We were very impressed with the condition of this particular course. Each hole had its own challenges and they did not seem to repeat themselves.
The staff was friendly and polite. As far as the drive from Vegas, it was smooth and fast. Zero traffic. Don't let the commute keep you from playing this very well maintained course.
I will be sure to come back again. Thank you.
Excellent day
Course is in great condition. It's a bit of a drive from Vegas but it is well worth the drive. Will definately play there again.
GO PLAY IT!!!
This course is in Pahrump, Nevada so about 50 miles and one hour from the Las Vegas strip. It is well worth the drive as the course is very nice, green, very well maintained. It's a challenging course that is also a lot of fun to play, which is a combination that is hard to find. Also add to this the low green fees that include an electric cart and you have a great value. I will definitely play this course again when in Las Vegas.
Great value
Worth the drive from Las Vegas.....will play again
