del Lago Golf Club
About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Options
I like that they give you options with the different combinations of tees. The fairways are in good shape and the greens are in good shape also
What a Disappointment!
This has always been one of our favorite courses in the Tucson area but things have changed dramatically! We hadn't played it in a while and we were very excited to play a day ago. Oh my... what a drastic change to the condition of this course. The fairways are atrocious, the greens have little grass, the rough is non-existent and the sand traps are unplayable, as they have been since the pandemic. The people we played with said "some guy from Chicago now owns the course and he won't put any money into it --- including the watering of the course and it's obvious? We're done with playing del lago until things change. We just hope something good happens before they have to close the course.
A tale of two nines
Del Lago chose to overseed their nines at different times. With the late heat in October, the overseed on the front nine turned out poorly.
The back nine is in much better shape, and I believe they overseeded this nine last.
The front nine is a matter of unfortunate timing. But due to the conditions on the front nine, it’s like playing two different golf course’s.
As usual, the completely neglected bunkers are a joke. Fill them in with dirt and grow grass. There’s literally no point in having bunkers that are that poorly maintained.
With Fred Enke in much better shape from tee to green for less money, I will be playing most of my golf there this winter. So sad, as I enjoy playing Del Lago when it’s in decent shape.
Good layout
Every holes are different from one to another. Fairway is a little bit hard overall good course
Great Course. Awesome Staff. Good Value
The staff was awesome, the layout is great, lots of tee options to match your game. Unfortunately, there was an overseeding issue on the front nine, but still very playable, back nine is playing great. Fun course for all, good value for the wallet.
Super Slow Pace
Over booked course. Four man group in front of us whose priorities were drinking, looking for shanked balls and talking about the stupid weather. Instead of taking the average time 12-15 minutes a hole they were taking 30-40 minutes a hole. Played 9 when I played for 18. I didn’t want to spend another 2hr 4min a whole, with this idiots in front of us.
Snow Bird
I booked a tee time mid morning on 12/29/24 and had to wait 30-40 minutes a hole after teeing off. Not ideal for the price I had to pay. I cut our playing time to 9 holes instead of 18. Too many people packed in and not golfing but just getting drunk, slicing and rudely looking for the ball after the fact. At this point golfing was not enjoyable.
Difficult course, but pace of play was a killer
Staff was amazing and extremely polite. Not the courses fault but we were behind some very slow golfers. I will definitely be back.
Great Course
I played DL for the first time in several years. I think this is a great course (sort of like a combo of Az National and Fred Enke), with a gorgeous layout in a gorgeous mountain desert environment. The fairways are so pretty the way they wrap around the desert. It's challenging but very fair. I was able to bomb drives and keep them in the fairways. Just beware the left side as the entire back nine is full of dogleg-left holes. If you don't go left and can hit it relatively straight, you'll be in good shape. If you cannot hit good golf shots, don't play here. Play at Randolf or Dorado. This course is for good players. That being said, they have 5 different tee boxes on each hole so beginners can play faster and choose front tees. The fairways were in great shape and the greens were pretty good. They don't look that great and the ball will bounce as it rolls but I actually was able to roll in a number of putts so would say the greens roll true mostly. Hopefully the greens will continue to improve as the season goes on. I'm definitely going to play here again soon.
Monday
I didn't realize the bar and restaurant was closed on Monday's other then that everything was great
