Forty-Niner Country Club

Most Greens and some fairways are thin on grass. Most tee boxes ok and clear evidence they have been watering them, so improvement from two weeks ago when I played. Greens were really fast two weeks ago and did not hold a pitch. Many greens the grass is so short you are putting on packed sand. Fairways are getting watered, encountered sprinklers running on a few holes.

Monsoon rains should help a lot.

The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. Plenty of water stations with cold crisp water. Great conditions, friendly staff and club members. Id gladly play here again. Very challenging course with some nice par 3's mixed in so you dont get too frustrated

I love this course. Normally great conditions and really wonderful experience. This round was rough. Summer has been hard on them.

Overall the course is in fair shape. The greens are very bumpy and furry, the fairways are for the most part in poor shape!

It should be noted, this was in the dead of summer, but it was one of the worse course conditions I’ve ever experienced. Several of the fairways were just dirt, grass mostly worn down. For $60 I’d expect a lot more during the summer.

The course is built for a draw or lefty fade and the fairways are quite thin. It makes for a challenging day if disbursement is wide. Lovely houses along the course, but they’re close.

If they took care of the grass better and it was full and thick, this would be an enjoyable and fairly challenging course. As it stands, I wouldn’t recommend playing.

I’ve played this course many times and this has to be the one of the worst rounds I’ve played there. Course conditions were rough. Greens in terrible condition and water jugs were empty. I played a round at 1pm and there was no water.. I only saw the cart once and that was at hole 6. Fortunately I had my own water, but wanted to top it off since I had several more holes to play. Very disappointing..

Greens are good taken care of and fast. Fairways need some work, but you get a nice 20 to 30 yard roll on every hit.

We enjoy the layout at Forty Niners, but the fairways are not in good condition right now. When the fairways are good, this is a great course to play. Wait until the fairway grass grows out a bit, then have a good round.

I have played this course 50 plus times. Today marked the day that I will never come back. 4 and a half hours to get through 14 holes. I called the staff to try and be polite and hurry the people up in front of us, and they got snappy, were quick and rude. Absolutely 0 way to treat a customer when your course has sand craters on the greens. Patchy fairways. They said they redid the bunkers, it’s literally gravel!! I left after 14 holes and will never be back.

All of the staff was excellent in the pro shop, carts, and bar. The course itself is a really fun track. Take your gps if you are new and dont be afraid to ask advice. Some par 4's are easy to overhit if you dont know the course. We were playing with a member who was invaluable. The pace of play seemed slow but at one point they sent a cart out asking all players to keep up. There were some dry areas on the course that was to be expected with the onset of summer. The crew on course maintenance had water out in the hot spots which shows they are trying and it is appreciated. We are definitely looking forward to winter play and are hoping to join their short term membership.
