del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Difficult course, but pace of play was a killer

Staff was amazing and extremely polite. Not the courses fault but we were behind some very slow golfers. I will definitely be back.

Great Course

I played DL for the first time in several years. I think this is a great course (sort of like a combo of Az National and Fred Enke), with a gorgeous layout in a gorgeous mountain desert environment. The fairways are so pretty the way they wrap around the desert. It's challenging but very fair. I was able to bomb drives and keep them in the fairways. Just beware the left side as the entire back nine is full of dogleg-left holes. If you don't go left and can hit it relatively straight, you'll be in good shape. If you cannot hit good golf shots, don't play here. Play at Randolf or Dorado. This course is for good players. That being said, they have 5 different tee boxes on each hole so beginners can play faster and choose front tees. The fairways were in great shape and the greens were pretty good. They don't look that great and the ball will bounce as it rolls but I actually was able to roll in a number of putts so would say the greens roll true mostly. Hopefully the greens will continue to improve as the season goes on. I'm definitely going to play here again soon.

The course layout is great with several tees to choose from depending on your ability. The only thing I don't like is that the golf carts can get too close to the greens and are wearing out the turf. Put some rope up or some signs to keep the carts away from the greens

Front nine in terrible shape. Bunkers are disgusting

Front 9, was it disgusting in terrible shape? The bunkers were just as bad. If not worse, the back 9 was in much better shape.

Sporty resort style course in Vail

Course is a bit out of the way but the sporty layout and good value along with a friendly staff make it very worthwhile.

Conditions are fair but there’s lots of bare lies and bunkers could use more sand.

Overseed still in progress

I don’t pretend to understand the complexity of overseeding a golf course but hope the staff are working on improving it. I do think the price should be slightly lower until the conditions improve. I love the layout and am optimistic.

Great day ruined by poor tee time management

Booked a round by myself for mid day. Starter says I’m paired with a twosome. Get to the tee box and the twosome informs they won’t be playing with me because their skill level is too low and the starter approved this. So here I am, a single stuck behind a days worth of 4somes. Literally waiting ten minutes a shot. Finally quit after 10. Course in decent shape. I typically enjoy myself here. Great value. 6 min tee times HAVE TO GO. Stop trying to squeeze money out of the course and focus on improving experience instead.

Super thin and sparse grass

Prices are high for the condition. Feels like it should be $20-30 less for rack rate. Greens were fast and nice but the rest of the course is super spotty with grass. Bunkers are still garbage and the tee times are like 6 mins apart so ownership can get every nickel. I keep going as I love the layout and want to give it another chance but I keep leaving disappointed.
