About
Carved from forests of towering oaks and pines, Old Corkscrew Golf Club exhibits all of the superior characteristics that define Nicklaus Signature courses. The absence of houses around the golf course adds to the secluded and peaceful feel that is provided by the dense thickets of trees that surround it. Jack Nicklaus himself was a prominent presence throughout every phase of the course's construction, incorporating well balanced holes that vary in direction, look, and feel. Proper club selection will be greatly rewarded on this golf course. The fast-paced, undulating greens sit up to 20 feet above the lush, rolling fairways, which can create some tricky pin placements if you're not careful. Old Corkscrew Golf Club's fairways are rather generous, but they are framed by carefully sculpted bunkers. Several large ponds come into play on nearly every hole and there are also numerous sand traps strategically placed along the greensides.

Jack made a tough one which may have contributed to some players in front of us getting beat up.

Worth the drive
The course is located in Estero which is not really close to Naples but it is worth the 30-40 minute drive from North Naples. While a little on the pricey side I would say that it is was worth the premium, in-season cost. Greens were a little dried out but overall the course was in fine shape.

Old corkscrew first time
Great course. Not easy. Very challenging. Scenic and no homes.
Only issue is for the money the pace of play is terrible and the rangers don’t do anything to speed it up. They really need to move some people along. We had three groups at one point backed up on tee box.

Old Corkscrew In Season
I play Old Corkscrew probably 5-8 times per year. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The course is probably one of the most challenging public courses in SWFL. The condition of the course was quite good especially considering the amount of play it receives. My only knock on my experience today was the pace of play. There seemed to be a mix up and the twosome we were supposed to be paired with were not directed to the first tee in a timely fashion. As a result we played as a twosome for 10 holes. This resulted in a ton of waiting around. Two groups in front of us was a group that was glacially slow. Sadly there were no rangers or player assistants to help encourage them to play faster. We finished in just over four hours but there really wasn’t a good reason for the situation.
