Old Corkscrew Golf Club

Course is very good, not excellent. COVID does not help with limited amenities and limited play. I would expect more when we get back to "normal". Right now, sacrifices are required.

This is a great Public course. Always in great shape, but be prepared this course will test every shot. I never seem to be able to score great due to course being difficult. Greens were slower today then usuAl, I would assume it’s been dry. Clubhouse people are class and starters are good guys.

For those looking for a PGA experience, this is close. We were first off the tee, and the other twosome didn’t show, so pace of play wasn’t a factor. Played in just over 3 hours. Course requires some placement shots. Rough (where I typically reside) is very fair, not cut too thin for those high handicaps that are still trying to hit the ball first. Fairways are fast, providing some extra distance if you hit good shots. It was fun putting on the fast greens, cut very low. The pros make it look so easy! Very friendly staff! Didn’t shoot any better or worse than normal, but that’s not saying much with a 30 handicap!

Nice layout and challenging, but worth $125.00 to play.

Toughest course in SW Florida. Many sucker pins. Play to the middle of the greens.

The Good...very challenging requiring pinpoint distance control and accuracy. Good course for professionals.

The Bad...late morning weekday tee times running 15 min late as they worked in groups that showed up late for their tee times. Nice course if you like hitting 4 iron off the tee a lot and flop shots from greenside collection areas sculpted by bulldozers all day. Some greens are comically small or have landing areas that are such. The word "gimmicky" and phrase "through the clown's mouth" were uttered more than a few times.

The Ugly...Warning to those of you that believe COVID is real and potentially dangerous, this course has a "no single rider" cart policy so they will pair you with a stranger to share your cart if you show up as a single or a threesome. Overall, this course is overpriced and the service was subpar for $172. For comparison, Raptor Bay, which I played on Monday, for $120 allowed single riders in carts as a COVID precaution and was a way better value given the golf course quality and playability and overall experience. For context, I am a 10-handicap. Old Corkscrew was just plain annoying in so many ways.

Extremely challenging course, even from white tees. When you're 76 & hit driver 230 yds, it's a huge challenge to hit the well trapped, elevated greens with 3-4 hybrids. Greens fast with many undulations!

Unless you are a low handicap you are in for a very long day, won’t go back

My son, husband and I had the most enjoyable 4 hour round on a very busy Christmas Eve day. The course is challenging you have to actually think & you have to actually make real golf shots. The layout is spectacular and every hole is different than the previous hole. The greens have serious undulations and there is no such thing as a straight putt there, which is pretty cool. The cart girl saw us a couple of times and there are ample bathrooms;)

The staff was friendly and very polite and And we waited a little bit on each hole but it wasn't bad as that was a foursome in front of us and we were a threesome and this was our first time playing this course which gave us some extra time to be able to think carefully about our shots.

Our other favorite course is the Tiburon and we've played about six courses in the Lely area, And so far the Tiburon and Old Corkscrew are favorite courses!

I have played this course around 6 times, and always look forward to coming down to play from Sarasota.

I always enjoy the tough layout and tricky greens.

Unfortunately the course conditions ( mostly the Greens) were awful. 50% of the green was dead with some type of fungus and then coved up with green fairway sand.

They must have used soooo much sand on the greens and surrounding areas that they didn't even have enough left to put on the carts to fill your divots in the fairway. . Both carts in our group had no sand to fix divots. Im sure that was the same with others, as the fairways were in very rough shape.

If your reading this, I would give the course at least 30-60 days before spending any money to play here. We paid $130.00 per person.. and it was hardly worth $40.00 IMO.

I don't like to bash a course.. but I hope I can save someone a big expense for a disappointing experience right now.

Tight fairways and difficult greens but they were sanded when we played. I’m a 11 handicap and I didn’t have any GRs except par 3’s. The restaurant had great chicken salad and tuna sandwiches, with really good staff.

Course was everything and more! Very tough but enjoyable for even a novice. I will definitely be returning.

Love this layout but sandy slow greens all day. The range is also a sand pit with tons of bare spots. Nice staff. Will be back but call ahead for conditions.
