Venetian Golf Club

This a very nice course, open fairways,fairway bunkers are placed well and the Greens, well, they are great.

Well groomed course. the greens were fair and fast but course knowledge would have helped. Some of the greens were extremely undulated and large. Two clubs large! Knowing the greens would dictate the approach. Great course though. Risk rewards were awesome. Definitely score better next round.

Played on July 1st. While most other courses have given superintendent off for the summer and let their course bake in the sun with no maintenance, this place was almost pristine. Wide fairways and hugh tricky greens. Not much rough but what there is, is punishing thick bermuda. Best facility I have played in two years in Florida.

A great course andconvenienttly located, the greens are challenging, the length would ask to use all the clubs in bag.

I liked every thing about the golf course and the club house. The staff were very helpful and polite. The course is well keep. I plan to play there a lot more.

This was by far the best course I have played in my area. Course conditions were excellent. The whole course was in perfect condition.

The course was great with exception of greens just been aerated the month of Jume. Excellent practice area.fairways were awesome. Rate one of top courses in area. Wish it was open to public in spring or fall.

The course was great this past weekend but they are Aerating the greens throughout the month of June.

This was my first time playing this course and I was very impressed by how well the course was maintained. I rate this the top course I have played in the Sarasota-Northport area in the last five years. I will definitely be back with friends in the near future.

Mixed review. Course is very nice and nicely challenging. I played as a single directly behind a twosome and a foursome. Felt bad for the starter, as he tried to hook me up with the twosome but the twosome didn't want me to play with them. As a result of waiting, and waiting (finally getting around the foursome and the twosome playing nine holes) I completed my round 2 minutes before the carts were due back in. The guy waiting for the cart was mad because I took to long and he had to wait until I was finished.

Bottom line, nice course, snobby members, and staff good unless you imposed on their time.

This course tries to remain private and only grudingly accepts a limited number of golfnow teetimes presumably to pay for their reservations system. Pace of play was 2 1/2 hours at 3 in the pm for 2 players with no ranger in sight, and then they were hustling us off the course at 6 p.m so they could go home. Also, for such a high priced course, there were no GPS in the cart so the group ahead of us was doing donuts in their cart looking for distance markers. I think the course is gimmickly with a lot of doglegs and undulated greens so without a GPS it's difficult to figure how far to hit the ball so it doesn't wind up in the water or the schmang.

Outstanding challenging course. Hit every club in my bag. Very fair, fun.

Venetian is one of four courses in the Sarasota area on my bucket list. Glad I played it. Wonderful quick greens. Fairways were well kept. Pace of play was fast. Really can't list and negatives. Play it and you'll be happy.

I played with my father in law who has played several courses in the area and thought that this was the best course he had played in the venice/sarasota area. The fairways are pretty generous and I don't feel like it had as many water hazards as some courses.

I'm not used to chipping on the type of grass in Florida that they have in Dec so that was a problem I still had, but the greens were so true that I putted the best I can remember in awhile. I had 6 one putts ranging from 6-25 feet.

The driving range is like some of the ones I've seen on TV where you hit it into the water which my wife thought was really cool. When we come back to florida which we do every year, I will play here again.

LARGE receptive greens, Ideal yardage from senior tees, U will 3 putt on the undulating greens with difficult pin placements, PRISTINE conditions.

Course was in great shape. The greens were true, but have a lot of slope and are a challenge to putt well on. The blue tees at 6500yds are a good test.. Round time was 3 1/2 hours (4-ball), teeing off at 1:45. The price was a snip at $25pp. Would definitely play again.

The course was in excellent shape from tees to greens. We played on a Tue and they had shotgun start that we really did not care for.

Although the greens were still bumping from airification and the bunker condition suffering from the heavy rains (not their fault- we've had a really bad stretch of weather), its a nice track. Very playable, lots of healthy grass (so when those greens come in they should be awesome), rough could be tough for high handicappers. My beef is with the type of bunker sand: its mixed with coquina (shells). You can hit a perfect shot, but if a shell gets between the club and ball your dead. For that reason I would never be a member. Very nice cart staff. I'd play it again.
