Venetian Golf Club

I was lucky to get an opportunity to play here and was paired up with an absolutely lovely couple from Virginia. Pace was relatively show, but not painful (4.5 hours). It was very, very windy the day I played so I am sure that slowed down groups ahead of us. I absolutely LOVED the layout of the course! The holes had great rolling topography which is rare for the area, and a very fun mix of doglegs, water and sand. Beautiful views all around of the course and palm trees. I would play again in an instant.

First time for me here. The tee boxes were pretty dried out and the greens were tough to hold. Surprised that many greens were pretty diseased and not smooth. It was tough to get a good roll and judge speed. A few inches by the hole meant you might have a 30 foot uphill putt which doesn’t seem fair.

We only made it through 15 holes because for 9 holes we had a couples member foursome that was a little slow.

I’d play again but only pay about $55 at most.

Several greens have some kind of invasive grass or disease. They're trying to deal with it by removing patches and filling in with some kind of mix, but it will take some time before these greens are in acceptable condition. Too bad.

First off I love to play this course. it is a great layout and fun to play.

The staff is fantastic and the grounds well kept.

I knew the course has been up for sale and recently sold but many of the greens (5/6) were in deplorable condition. Some were in great shape and were rolling really well.

Yes we had a late Tee Time and got off just before dark but then not to have access to the rest rooms or the grill was a huge disappointment. Paying a premium price for a premium course I would have expected better.

Hopefully the new owners will take the non-members into account if they continue to let us play. the price was fair and I would play again if available.

Always enjoy this course, greens are what make it a challenge, course conditions not as good as years past. I understand the course is being sold , so they are going through a transition period

Not much grass on tee boxes and patches of weeds on the greens. Pace of play was slow. Staff was very friendly.

Fun course, challenging greens. No food or beverage service due to staffing shortages.

I’ve played this course many times over the years it has been a couple years since last playing here and remembered it as a nice well maintained club. It was not today. The superintendent should be fired. The greens are infested with st Augustine crab grass, everything was rock hard like they haven’t watered or aerated in ages. Fairways need to be aerated to keep from becoming concrete.

On top of it they had no staff for a beverage cart or to have theiir bar or grille room open. So no drinks or food available. Labor shortage or not every other club has a found a way to keep these services open. They did have a Ranger, although not necessary when the course had little pay. Understandable for the rates. Maybe give the ranger the beverage cart. It would be more died than being told to park all 4 tires of the cart on the path while putting. Cart traffic and parking is hardly the issue here…

Needless to say it will be some time before returning. Sad to see a fun course go downhill so poorly and during a time golf as a sport is at an all time high.

Lots of dead spots and sand filled areas on the greens. Very difficult to put across them.

A great layout that was one of the best in SW Florida. Now reduced to a dog patch. No grass on the tee boxes. Scarce grass on the fairway. The worst is the greens. They have tons of goose grass spots. Their remedy was to dig them up by hand and leave 4" diameter divots on the green that they half fill with sand mix. Almost impossible to putt with out one of these drastically affecting your path.

I had a hot deal at $70.00. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Tee boxes ok, fairways hard but have grass, greens fast and not too bumpy, get it on a hot deal and it's a fun play

Was told by friends this course wouldn’t disappoint and they were correct. Played with another couple ( husband played it once before so knew the layout) and the scenery, layout and conditions were great. Will return at a later date. Maybe play both courses.

Staff did not tell us that there would be no beer or food service at all. They didn’t even sell anything in the pro shop. How do they not notify people who plan to play at their course that there will be no food or drinks?
