Windswept Dunes Golf Course

About
Windswept Dunes Golf Club tumbles across a dramatic landscape covered with white sand dunes accented by lush green fairways. The golf course appeals to players of all skill levels thanks to player-friendly features that are balanced by strategically placed hazards. Although each hole shares the characteristic of being lined with dunes, they each maintain a unique character. The rolling fairways are often wide and generous off the tee and the sand dunes, which stretch from tee too green, are only punishing of the most errant of shots. The approach shots though are as demanding as the tee shots are forgiving. There are numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the large, smooth greens. While the occasional water hazard comes into play, the bunkers are the most challenging element of Windswept Dunes Golf Club.

Windswept is a gem
Windswept is one of my favorite courses in the Destin area. They have seven tee boxes so the best and the worst can pick their poison. The fairways and greens are huge. Seems like you’re always in play. The greens were a little spotty in places but overall the course was in great shape. It’s a pig and a poke to get there but it’s worth the trip. .
Tough course but so much fun
Greens under repair but the rest of the course is fantastic.
Amazing Course
Folks, if you golf and are staying in the 30A area (Seaside, Watercolor, etc.) you need to go play this course. Best kept secret in the panhandle and second longest course in Florida. Its an amazing course. They are getting beat up online due to the condition of their greens, but just about everyone in the south has fought cold nights and poa annua that will not die. Their greens are recovering nicely. I played twice, shot 78 and 77, so the course is still very much playable. And scorable. Play it short and have fun...play it long and challenge yourself, but go play it! And they are giving a discount right now due to the greens. Staff is helpful and super nice and helpful!
Quit after9
The layout of this course is very good and playable. The greens had some problem with many blemishes on them. The pace of play was very slow Probably due to being very crowded for holiday weekend. Staff was friendly.
Beautiful track
Beautiful track, and very challenging. Greens are under repair But fairways are in great shape.
Worst greens I’ve seen and pace of play was 6 hours
I’d like to start by saying the staff was super nice and when we arrived we were all stoked to play. Driving range looked nice but practice green was the worst I’ve ever seen! The pace of play was 6 hours. We play every Friday and usually done in 3 and a half hours. Marshall was driving around but didn’t do much about it. Greens were the worst I have ever seen. Worst then you can imagine. Course was just not in good shape for the price. I wouldn’t have spent 40$ to play here to be honest. It’s just that bad. Staff was super cool but not worth the price and the 6 hours dragged on the whole time. Don’t waste your time here. I never write bad reviews but it was absolutely terrible out there.
Play Elsewhere
Greens were absolute trash. The rest of the course was in good condition. Fairways kept pretty long and shaggy. Huge landing areas with some dunes and bunkering to distract you from the goliath fairways. Price tag was pretty steep should be a $65-75 golf course and did not include range balls. Considering all of the nice courses in the area I would skip this one.
GET REAL
$145 no range balls, practice putting green is so far gone, you won’t be able to use it this season, 16/18 greens are absolutely disgusting, we are in Florida, no reason your course is this far gone, for the price you make everyone pay, year round, Sandestin courses blow you guys out the water, and that’s sad, tops a $60 course, not even in a tourist spot to be charging the price you are! Atleast come get my bag out of the vehicle! GET IT TOGETHER
Big Fast Track
It's a big fast track, it's all the golf you can handle. Be forewarned it has cross bunkers in the landing areas, long par 3's, you had better take advantage of the par 5's.
Windswept Dunes
This is my personal favorite in this area, around here the $100ish green fee keeps most off the riff raff away. The course is great, fairways is great condition! The greens are huge and you could end up with a 100' putt or better if accuracy is not good. My only complaint is this course charges ~12 bucks for range balls, come on Windswept for $100 green fee toss in a bucket of balls...I will continue to play this course whenever possible
A favorite
I love the layout and the big greens. Greens are typically very good but currently been healing from some spot, killing and the tough winter.
A hidden Gem!
Love this course. It plays a little long, but I’m not a long hitter so for the above average golfer, it would not be hard off the tea to the green.
Great course!
We loved Windswept Dunes. Nice range and practice area and the course, while different, is a lot of fun. Plays a little long, but I’m not a big hitter so that factors in. Overall, I give it a five star rating.
Great Course to Play in the Area
Windswept Dunes is a must for anyone to play when down on 30A or the surrounding area. The layout is really good and you can play the course as long as you can handle. The Ocean tees (Blue) are 6900 yards and a very solid test. We play here every year when down.
Not worth high greens fees.
The course layout is interesting and scenic in many spots. Staff was friendly. The course plays long being at sea level. The duo that I was paired with, their cart broke down and we had to wait a while for a cart swap. There’s no beverage / cart person running the course so you will need all provisions before and during the turn. Now the really bad part, THE GREENS. They told everyone that there were brown spots and the greens still rolled true. That was not the case at all. It’s like they spot sprayed roundup at least 100 times on each green and it severely altered the course of the ball. I would say that even with nice greens, the fee should be less than $80 or $90.
Seasonal Issue
Maybe I expected too much for this time of the year but the price lead me to believe the course would be in much better condition. I played other courses in the area and wasn’t disappointed. Fun layout, maybe I’ll try again later in the season.
