Windswept Dunes Golf Course

Loved the course - fantastic layout, but the greens aren’t ready yet - I would’ve been very disappointed had I paid full price, but thanks to a “hot deal” I didn’t - would go again, if I was down this way, at a later point in the year

The tees & fairways are in great shape. However, the greens were sanded & very grainy which made it difficult if not impossible to hit most greens & have the ball stay on the green. The least the pro shop could do is let you know the current conditions of the greens before you pay FULL PRICE !!! When conditions are below standards I feel that the green fees also should be reduced below standards as well!!!

Wish I would have known the greens were sanded. As a vacationer I hauled my clubs for a few rounds in the area and wasn’t made aware thru my booking that the greens were just sanded. I wouldn’t have chose to play here. Also upsetting that a course expects patrons to pay full price to play on sanded greens. In some spots we were literally putting g on sand. That and the starter starting groups 7 min apart so early in the day made for multiple groups on each hole / sometimes 3/hole on the par fives. Waited every shot and had the group behind us on ever tee shot waiting/watching. Overall we made the best of what was a very dissapointing situation, especially being as I had played this course once a few years back and thought it to be a good experience hence the desire to return. Staff was nice despite my request for reduced fees upfront given the sanded greens.

Prior to playing, I was warned it would take a long time for a round at Windswept. No issues as courses get busy. Issue I had was the Marshall kept bothering us about playing slow when we were not. We explained to him twice that we bumped up against the group in front of us almost every hole. He didn’t listen and continued to tell us we needed to speed up. He suggested that we skip stopping after nine only to find when we got to 10 the group in front of us stopped. You might want to find someone that understands the pace play before you send them out to hassle your guests.

Loved the design, challenging but fair. Greens trying to repair from the poa annua but still ran pretty smooth, not fast however. Will play again.

The course layout is great. Pace of play was great. Course in good condition, but green in very rough conditions. Cost to play this course is not equal to conditions because of the greens.

Challenging and fun course. The conditions lacked this the lower overall ratings. At this price point I expect a much more premium experience. I’d say this is a $75-85 price point vs the $125 they charge.

Staff is very friendly and variety of hole shapes makes it challenging and a lot of fun.

The course is different than any other that we played near Destin. It is a challenging course and the conditions of the fairways and greens were excellent. We recommend this course for sure!

I love the layout of this course. Wide open fairways and lots of bunkers. You'll be rewarded for staying in the fairways and playing conservatively. It plays really long but there are 5 or 6 tee selections so it can play much shorter for those that can't play the longer course. I played from the Emerald tees with it being my first time plus the guy I got paired up with played from that tee as well. I would normally play from one of the further back tees and if I come back, I likely will.

I hadn’t played here in over 20 years, and it was worth the effort. Great layout with plenty of room off the tee. Par 3’s are very challenging and the greens were in very good shape.

Having not been on premise in years, i was quickly reminded of the great layout and routing. This is a must play for golfers starved for a solid golf experience in/around Destin and Miramar Beach. Friendly to players at all levels.

I hadn’t played there in 20 years and the layout is reminiscent of Bandon Dunes and Sand Valley. The amenities are wonderfully sparse, catering to a golf purest - regardless of talent level.

Played here in 50 mph gusts and loved the course and the challenges it gave us. My screwball son ,who played college golf, played it from the full 7700 yards in that wind and said it was harder than Whistling Straits! Greens were soft enough to hold a shot and they rolled well. This is not a course that is going to offer you any amentities or be kind to your wallet but I will for sure return to play it in nicer weather conditions. Both employees we spoke with were very kind and informative.

Enjoyed the course— the staff was super friendly and enjoyable to be around. The layout is beautiful, wide fairways and great course for people looking to have a good time. The greens on the other hand are faster than concrete and are super dormant. Looks as they are being prepped to punch or are just clearing up from being punched. With that being said, I’d play it again.
