Contraband Bayou Golf Club At L'Auberge Du Lac

The course layout was cool, but the condition of the greens was not consistent with that of a $105 - $115 course. Many greens had grass patches and inconsistent grass. Still a course but should be charging less than $115 if greens are in that condition.

Course is definitely a good design and the staff was very nice. However, the greens are substandard at best for a high end casinos golf course! Looks like the greens keeper punched the greens with too large of a die resulting in extremely slow bumpy greens. Maybe they don’t have a roller for the greens or just don’t care. The greens also had very poor quality grass, some patches were of different varieties resulting in inconsistent speed or true brakes…worse than small town Muni golf!! The clubhouse is nice but there’s no restaurant, food (not even convenience store cold sandwiches) or bar to enjoy before or after a round. I’m not sure why they have such a nice large deck around the clubhouse since they have no amenities? The staff sent us back to the casino for food causing us to waste an extra 30 minutes out of our day, totally unacceptable! They also had the driving range closed on a busy summer Friday, again totally unacceptable for such an expensive course! Maybe it was to hot and/or to much trouble to collect the range balls!

I always make sure I play Laberge when we stay at the Golden Nugget . It is a Great getaway from gambling to get outdoors . The fairways and bunkers are in great shape . The greens have just been punched but still ran remarkably well. Friendly staff always is a nice way to start my round . Ice and water at the restrooms on the course are great with the summer heat . My one recommendation to the course is to make sure the containers are filled so that players can repair their divots .

I would normally rank this course at 5 stars. However the greens had just been punched and heavily sanded, making putting on all 18 holes impossible with no mention before play. It was a good day to practice the short game but forget scoring. Just let us know before we commit to playing. This is the best course in Lake Charles, don't miss playing it if you are in the area.

Scored a later tee time and was a bit worried that we wouldn’t be able to finish. Had no problems at all until 17 and even then it was fine. Course played very well considering we had quite a bit of rain. Greens were fantastic for the most part with the exception of a few spots but it didn’t really affect anything. 10/10 would play there again in a heartbeat.

Greens were rolling, fairways were found, course was gorgeous.

Played Masters weekend

Course was Closed Saturday due to the rain was on it’s way to the Masters to test the pros

Sunday was cart path only

Course was trying to come back from winter and rain

With me and my brothers length who are in our 60’s

Length was an issue but, so were the pros at the Masters

Green’s have the bad invasive grass through the region

Range was closed. Greens were kind of bumpy but it’s a good layout.

Impressed by this course. Played in March and fairways and greens were in great shape. Will play again.
