Indian Wells Golf Resort - Players Course

Played the Player Club today with10 guys; 2 threesomes, one foursome. Played the course many times. The guys on this trip are experience golfers who have club private club memberships at home and are not strangers to golf etiquette. At the 3 hour and 15 minute mark we had only been able to get through 11 holes. By the time we hit the par 3 12th both threesomes had made it to the tee box and we had never seen a marshal. The foursome in front of us was still on the green. We new we shouldn't play 6 but opted to have both threesomes play up, hopefully giving the foursome in front, time. We weren't holding anyone up. The Beverage Cart driver immediately saw this, took our picture and called a marshal who was on our backs within seconds of the beverage cart picture. We knew we were wrong. Normally I LOVE to see a marshal. Before letting us explain, he ripped into us for playing 6, totally rude and aggressive, did allow us to even explain the circumstances. Seemed to care less about the fact that he had been failing at his job all day. There was a way to handle it and he didnt do so correctly. 2 holes later our cart had a mechanical failure and died in the fairway. We couldn't get anyone ones attention. We walked 2 holes in 102 degree weather before someone tried to help us. Now, when we were playing too many golfers on a short par 3 because the course was backed up, we could get assistance immediately. When my cart fails for no fault of my own, in 102 degree weather, that doesnt seem to matter. I tried sharing my frustrations with the Pro Shop rep who came out on the course and he completely dismissed me by saying that its a large facility, he never follow up with me after the round as he said he would. I generally have liked Troon managed courses and have played several. This was a huge disappointment. I have never left a review online before today, but this experience compelled me to do so. If I could have posted 0 stars I would have.

Wonderful course that will reward shot control and some smart risk taking. The course conditions were perfect and the whole facility is beautiful. Most of the Par 5s can be reached in 2 with a decent tee shot, but the course will punish you if your 2nd shot is not right on target.

Nice course in a very large resort. Course was in good condition and the pace of play was fabulous! Very nice staff!!

This course is average in playability for the Palm Desert area but Carrie’s a big price tag. No help with getting the bags in and out of the cars. Driving range is nice, carts with GPS good. The big challenge was that the Marshall on the third hole said we were holding up the group behind even though it was 25 mins after we teed off. The group behind frequently hit up on us while we were on the green or walking to carts. We finished nine and turned in 1 hour 5-0 minutes even though the suggested time allocation was 2 hrs 20 minutes. Some of the players in our foursome did not feel they could putt since the foursome behind kept hitting up on us. It was a very unpleasant round at the resort.

First class resort and wonderful course, beautiful and challenging but fair. Every hole provides superb views of the desert mountains, but you'll also experience the perfectly manicured course, along with awesome vegetation and trees.

Rough was a little burned out not as plush as the neighboring celebrity course. Good pro shop. Lots of water on the course. Pace was bit slow to start and then picked up nicely. I think the group in front of us either got a nudge or picked up the pace when they saw us waiting for the first 3-4 holes.

Greens were fast maybe a 11 and true. Did not like the traps not enough sand but that may what to expect given the sometimes windy conditions.

Great track , nestled into the mountains,, no sign there is a world out here.

This is an xlent test of golf. Course was in great shape. You must make club selection a priority and your round will be enjoyable. Great layout.
