Seaview - The Pines Course
About
The lesser known of the two 18-hole courses at the Seaview is the Pines Course. It originally started as a nine-hole course but another nine-hole course was added later and the two courses were eventually combined to form the Pines Course. The course has a par of 71 and it is 6,731 yards from the back tees.
Seaview's Pine Course doesn't provide scenic views but it does offer a good game. Some even prefer the Pines course because of its quiet location behind the resort's hotel and also because of its more challenging features. The golf course has tight fairways lined with trees, medium-sized greens that are undulating, and strategically placed bunkers.

Don’t play
Didn’t read the reviews before playing and should have. Don’t play this course in 2020.
Cons:
Bunkers were mostly in bad shape. Weeds on the greens. Dried up greens. Some mowed grass when others looked like it’s been a week since it’s been touched. Small and ripped up tee boxes.
Pros:
Good layout. It could be a good course any other year but this year it’s in bad shape. Really really nice staff. Coolers on the carts.
Overall: it is great for the experience and pampering but the course looks like it is desperate for some love and not worth the $50. Playing the bay course tomorrow and hopefully it will be better.
Pines Awful
I used to work at Seaview 20 years ago so I’m biased and have high expectations and I’ve played many times over the years. I played this week and there was a spot for 1 golfer for the Pines course. I was shocked on how this course has been neglected. Tee boxes and greens burned out, bunkers not kept and areas around the greens not mowed. I’m not sure if this neglect was due to COVID but it’s frankly a shame. I understand that the property has been turned over a few times but I just feel like the whole place needs a new coat of paint. It’s such a great place and I’m just really disappointed. I asked one of the employees on the condition of the Bay course and he said it was in much better shape. Come on Seaview keep it classy. You’re better than that.
Greens are getting torn up!
Looks like the summer is taking its toll. Lot of player traffic is causing jam ups in the afternoon hours. Fairways are still lush aside from unreplaced divots (cmon players, replace with sand or grass if you can). Tee boxes are so so. Greens are really bad though. Course is still fantastic, it’s just in the best shape right now. May be better to go elsewhere and return here in the offseason.
Greens not up to par
We played the Pines course for the first time this year and were disappointed. Starter said about 3 or greens had heat stress issues but is was more than half of the greens with issues and impacted playability. Most of the pin placements were near the edges. There was also a significant amount of weeds (nut sedge) around the tees and fairways. We have played the bay about 3 times this year with no issues. At $105 on a Saturday morning it was not worth the money. Tee time was 7:40 with very good pace of play.
Unplayable
Tee boxes were all chewed up, greens were fried and with grass completely dead in some areas, and pace of play was very slow with no rangers to keep things moving. Will not come back to play the Pines anytime soon. I was totally shocked because Seaview has a great reputation. Save your money, maybe the Bay course is better.
Horrible conditions
You’d think this place would be in better condition considering it’s owned by Troon, but that is sadly not the case. The tee boxes were an absolute mess, and the greens were by far the worst I’ve played on all year. Not only were the greens they slow and bumpy, but there was either dead grass or no grass on many of them. On top of that, you’ve got groups playing golf with zero oversight from a ranger who clearly need guidance.
I had a much better experience on their Bay course, but will not be playing the Pines again this summer.
Day Out
Course is dried out a bit but acceptable. Watering with this heat and doing their best. Side note. Tell the grounds crew that a 6'3 guy with a driver in his hands needs more than about 5 ft between tee boxes? Lol. Always enjoy Pines. Will be back.
Not up to par
Played this course many times and actually about a month ago and it was in fabulous shape - played today and surprised it was not so good - greens were burned out and the course was not in good shape at all - glad I only paid $39 or would’ve been even more disappointed - not sure I will be back until somebody tells me it’s in much better condition
Poor Condition
I am a fan of both of the Seaview courses....love the atmosphere and love them both. However, in my 10 years plus playing there, the Pines course has never been worse than it was today. Bare spots on greens, fairways, etc the course was in the worse shape I have ever seen it in.
Will no linger be a first choice to play
Love this course
Seaview PInes opened in 1929 and has a traditional park layout. Plenty of trees and doglegs. True championship course - Sam Snead won the PGA Championship in 1942 at Seaview PInes. At 6731 from the tips the Pines presents a challenge for all handicaps. Best time to play - spring and early summer.
Good deal, great course
I loved the the overall experience of this course. From the convenient Location of the practice greens/chipping area to the great staff and lastly to the course itself and it’s condition.
