Tarland Golf Club
About
When you think of Scottish Golf, one name invariably comes to mind - ol' Tom Morris. At Tarland Golf Club near Aberdeen, not only does the legend live on, but you get the opportunity to play an actual Morris design at this delightful and scenic nine-hole run. Playing to nearly 6,000 yards when played to 18 holes, Tarland is notorious for its rich variety of wildlife, and for the number of golfers willing to make the trek to the town of Tarland to give this Morris masterpiece a go.
Tarland is a parkland course that will challenge nearly all level of player, and where accuracy and solid golf course management will result in a good score at a run with a rating of 68. Low green fees and a friendly atmosphere dominate this club, where strategically placed bunkers and mature trees will give attacking players a pause before the pull out the big guns at the golf course's many tempting and risk-reward par 4s.

Five star
Would highly recommend to play this course would do it again next time in the area
Real golf in beautiful surroundings
First time at Tarland so had to deal with zero course knowledge and an honesty box (which doesn't give change) 😂
A lovely village course course in great condition for the time of year, and only played the 9 holes. An extra 9 would have played longer as the Tees were generally further back for the same holes.
Had a good chat with the green keeper on the course who had just started back after a 3 month winter break.
Noisy eagle overhead, sunshine, snow on the surrounding hills and a birdie to finish. Clubhouse closed, but no big issue.
Fairways are generous, greens on the small side, but a great experience.
Tarland
Sun shining course and surrounding beautiful. What more can a golfer wish for
Hidden gem
Beautiful course scenery amazing and course in fantastic condition. A joy to play. Thanks to all the Tarland club and green keepers…
Was in Really good condition, really good course layout. And the scenery is probably the best you can get in Aberdeenshire.
Family round of golf
The course was in beautiful condition and a good challenge for all. We teed off at 3 and after a slightly slow start ( we were following a club senior medal) the pace picked up and was very enjoyable.
The greens and fairways were lush and very well manicured with wide fairways but punishing rough ( as it should be) The layout of the course caters for both high and low handicappers, rewarding accuracy whilst not overly penalising the shorter ( shot distance) golfer. Around the greens was a good challenge requiring good shot selection and careful putting.
We had a great afternoon.
Good course,
Well kept and maintained, but after 18 holes, a drink would have been nice, but no,.... all closed and not a sole to be seen.
Seems to have gone downhill like everywhere else. Cut backs and moneysaving doesn't bring people in.. Just the opposite.
Beautiful course. A little gem in Deeside
Beautiful Course, views and setting.
Cannot rate staff nor friendliness since there are no staff on site.
Lovely 9 hole course
Tarland is an attractive 9 hole course which is very well maintained. There were few others on the course so you could play at your own pace.
I will be going back later this week
Great Course for those New to Golf
Excellent course to boost the confidence of beginners. Wide fairways but challenging enough with plenty of par 4’s.
GreT little course in lovely setting
Interesting, quiet little course in beautiful Royal Deeside. It’s well worth a visit to enjoy the interesting layout on this well kept course. You can get a decent lunch in the Tea Room in the village centre.
Great course
I first played this course in 1970 (not a typo) and more recently in 2020/21 & 2023. The course is in beautiful condition and the setting is stunning. I recommend an early evening round as the sun is setting. It's a challenging 9 holes for any standard of player and I hope its there for at least another 50 years. I hope I make it back again.
Beautiful course
Absolutely beautiful.
Clubhouse refurb looks good.
Always love coming back to this gem.
Don't know about hospitality due to limited hours of staff.
Gentle course
Nice wide fairways. The course is in better condition than last year. Very enjoyable 9-holes.
Lovely course, shame about the greens
I have played this course on a number of occasions and always enjoyed it. This time round though the greens (like many in Aberdeenshire, unfortunately) had not recovered from a severe winter/spring and were in a very disappointing state with many areas where there was no growth whatsoever. Putting under these conditions was something of a lottery and it is for this reason only that I cannot currently recommend the course to other golfers.
Work needed
Beautiful setting but greens were very poor. The usual work probably delayed due to cold & wet spring. Hopefully it will be back to normal later in the year.
Mann/Stewart.
Excellent course with lovely views around.
Local members very friendly.
Must for all golfers.
