Tarland Golf Club
About
When you think of Scottish Golf, one name invariably comes to mind - ol' Tom Morris. At Tarland Golf Club near Aberdeen, not only does the legend live on, but you get the opportunity to play an actual Morris design at this delightful and scenic nine-hole run. Playing to nearly 6,000 yards when played to 18 holes, Tarland is notorious for its rich variety of wildlife, and for the number of golfers willing to make the trek to the town of Tarland to give this Morris masterpiece a go.
Tarland is a parkland course that will challenge nearly all level of player, and where accuracy and solid golf course management will result in a good score at a run with a rating of 68. Low green fees and a friendly atmosphere dominate this club, where strategically placed bunkers and mature trees will give attacking players a pause before the pull out the big guns at the golf course's many tempting and risk-reward par 4s.

Lovely afternoon at Tarland
We enjoyed a fine afternoons golf at Tarland. My wife and I had played the course before but not for a number of years. The weather was lovely and the course was in excellent condition. Despite the pandemic the toilet facilities were available to us and signage was clear and easy to follow. Particularly enjoyed the greens, they were a little slower than other courses we have recently played but the ball went where you hit it so that is all you can really ask for. The only slight negative was a group of four, who seemed to have no understanding of golf etiquette. We teed off as they were leaving the ninth green and caught up with them at the 15th (they played just 6 holes in the time it took us to play 15). but refused to wave us through. We didn't let it spoil our afternoon though and wouldn't judge Tarland members based on our experience.
Fantastic course
Fantastic course. Beautiful setting, well maintained. Don’t be put off that it’s only 9 holes or that it plays relatively short. The rough is tough! And the greens are challenging and you will struggle to keep the ball on the green the first time you’ll play it. I played it 3 times in 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed it.
A pleasure to play
Tarland golf course is a 9-hole (18-tees) layout. It is in great condition and well maintained.
All COVID-19 precautions were in place.
Met a few members finishing their round and they were very friendly..
It’s not a long course but very enjoyable to play.
