About
This slightly undulating medium length golf course is west of Aberdeen situated in one of the most beautiful parts of upper Deeside. It was founded in 1892 as a nine hole test on land owned by the Laird of Invercauld. When farmland became available in 1905 the course was expanded to 18 holes, providing an exacting challenge in idyllic surroundings. The town and its golf course lie within a circle of hills, providing glorious views and the River Dee runs alongside several of the holes, as it meanders its way down to Aberdeen.

Ballater GC visit
I stay in Aberdeenshire
I tend to use GolfNow to play different courses as I like a challenge
The slow play was down to the pair in front of me they were obviously amateurs and held up the play
They didn’t even let me play through and they both walked of the course after nine holes
By the time I got to the 14th hole I found myself waiting again behind a threesome
I then found myself walking off 4 holes short of the 18
I don’t think I will be back visiting Ballater
Great Course
Really well kept tee boxes and greens and fairways in top condition.
Only criticism about course layout is a couple of up and down holes in the middle of the round, aside from that a good variety and challenge.
Beautiful round at Ballater
I had some time on my hands so nipped around Ballater. It was a gorgeous day and the course was in tip top condition. Greens were spectacular and true. Views are amazing ( Heartbreak Ridge!). Finished off with a shandy and toastie in the sunshine. Couldn’t have been better really. One minor comment…I wasn’t quite sure where 6th tee was after putting out on the 5th. A wee sign would be helpful for visitors. I had Ballater before but not for many years.

Great value for money.
We played this course 3 times this week during very favourable weather conditions. As the week went on the greens improved quite a bit and by Friday they were playing very well. We booked through Golf Now and managed to get a round for £14.99 each absolute steal.....worth every penny. Well done to the greenkeepers and all the staff for all the hard work.
Great course
Great course. Gets better after the 3rd as I found the footgolf confusing being a first timer. Would be better if the footgolf were different colours signage from 3rd to 4th and 6th to 7th could be better but lovely course

Beautiful course in good condition for November. Good golfing test with some spectacular holes.

Played Ballater , full greens and tees last weekend in October, great value for money !
Beauty in Ballter
Lovely course, with cracking views of the hills around the river Dee. A few tricky par 3's that require a long and accurate shot that keep you on your toes. Highlight was the 18th over the burn and back towards the clubhouse!
Great course with fantastic catering
Great golf course in wonderful condition, and fantastic catering.
Easy walking course in super condition, we had a couple of very heavy showers on back 9 but it never spoiled the experience . Will definitely return sometime
Enjoyable round
We were unfortunate to be behind a large party so play was slow. Luckily during a dry spell of weather so course in good condition.
