Oldmeldrum Golf Club

About
For many years a nine hole course, the course was extended to its present eighteen holes between 1987 and 1989. A par 70 course, measuring just under 6200 yards, it presents a varied and challenging test of golf, requiring accurate play off the tee and a good short game on the approaches to the small and tricky greens. The course has few hidden hazards, and what you see in front of you is what you have to conquer.
The first and last holes, containing slight doglegs, are much more testing than they would appear from the card, and if you can start and finish with two fours, you can be well satisfied. The Par 3 11th hole looks more intimidating than it really is, but requires a clean shot over the water. If you duff it, you are likely to be dropping another ball at the side of the pond.

Overall course conditions where good except the greens, can’t say if it was due to recent weather but certainly not running true, however throughly enjoyed the course and would recommend trying it out.
Little Gem
Played here while up on a work course, and wanted to get a round in whilst in the area, oldmeldrum did not disappoint, play off 19 myself, but this course had a bit of everything for me, stunning scenery, course was really well kept, challenging greens, one of the nicest courses iv played. The lad in the shop as well was a good laugh and sound as anything
Some really interesting holes played over water and none of the par 3's are straight forward . Shared Fairway on the 1st and 18th .
The course layout is much better these day except for the 1st and 18th sharing a fairway . The trees lining the fairways are now more of a hazard as they are much bigger . For the time of year, the course was in good condition and would be better if the greens had some better attention , cut and rolled . I used every club in the bag .Enjoyable 3hrs 10 min to get round .
Cracking course, nice and flat
Second time playing here and it's ace, cracking layout and the clubs hop guy was really friendly. We will return for sure. Watch out for power lines on the 18th tee as I drove off and hit the wire hahahaha. Great course and value for money
Oldmeldrum bounce game
Tee time was double booked again. This happened the last time we was out 2 x at 10.52
With both groups booking through golf now Greens a quite poor, but I get it’s start of the season so they will improve
Very god
Lovely little course with some well laid out holes and beautiful views.
Not terrible but a very bland course - better choices in Aberdeen
Having researched golf courses in Aberdeenshire I thought I would try out oldmeldrum after hearing some friends talking about it.
The fee was excellent value (£10) and so there was very little to lose in my opinion. Unfortunately this was partly due to playing off of mats on the fairway but still on full greens.
On arrival the staff were all very friendly and registration was smooth. The course however has a very short and uninteresting layout bar one or two holes. The first hole and the 18th in particular are possibly two of the worst holes I’ve ever played. They feel completely detached from the rest of the course and encroach on each other, making it very easy to hit another player.
From 2 onwards the course improves slightly however the layout is very uninspiring with lots of parallel fairways. The highlight is a small pond that is visible after the 3rd hole and forms a centre point on the golf course. There is a very interesting par 3 that forces you to hit over it . Sadly due to winter tee rules this hole was shortened to 100y and the thrill of the hole was taken away, but that is not the fault of the golf club. Most of the winter tees are placed far too far forward in my opinion, shortening most par 4s to approx 300y. Perhaps in summer it would be better.
The overall condition of the fairways was surprisingly good and it made me wonder why mats were necessary. Some greens were fine and some were cored but that is not to be unexpected in winter.
All in all for £10 it’s not a bad place to play if you are at a loose end, but for any serious golfer you would be much better off paying slightly more at a more upmarket course. Even the council owned courses in Aberdeen are more interesting, although they are some of the best value for money courses I have ever played
Good Parkland Course
Lovely Course in good condition, club house was a little manic and timings were a bit off but overall good value for money.
The first and 18th which share a fairway let the overall course down, with everything behind this lovely, some beautiful par 3s and lengthy par 5s.
A good course to play
Nice holes, well laid out and very few blind shots. Fairly flat course.. this is a good course to play when in the Aberdeenshire area.
Nice course
Nice little course with some pleasant features.
Staff very friendly and helpful. All in all, an enjoyable experience.
Course closed with no notifications
We arrived at the course to play to be greeted with an empty clubhouse and a course closed sign. We have also been charged in full by golfnow for a round we didn’t get to play. Very disappointed.
Favourite course
First played this course in July and played here every week since. Very well kept, and always in great condition. Challenging but good course for high handicap players too. Only bad point is the 1st hole and 18th share the same fairway but apart from this its a great course.
Family Day Out
Fantastic little course, staff in pro shop were so helpful and full of chat and welcoming. Unfortunately due to COVID we could not get a pint before hand which was disappointing as we could have been outside. Was hoping to may purchase some clothing etc from the course but not a massive range.
As for the course was excellent condition, even with so much wet weather. Greens were very good. Challenging but advice from the staff helped a lot before we went out. Will definitely be back and really enjoyed our COVID family outing!
Grand afternoon at Oldmeldrum
A lovely afternoon with bright sunny weather and a bit of a breeze blowing made Oldmeldrum a fine challenge. Course was in excellent condition considering how much rain the area had had earlier in the week. Very accommodating shop staff made us feel very welcome.
Course was in excellent condition
Fairways and greens were well maintained, though course was busy slow play was minimal. Really enjoyed the experience and will definitely play again
First time at Oldmeldrum
This was my third round of the long weekend at three different courses and by far the most enjoyable .
Nice wide fairways to be able to pummel the ball down and greens which were in very good condition for the time of year.
I would certainly recommend it and will be back myself to play it again soon.
Lovely course
Really enjoyed the 3 rounds I’ve had there. Nice greens, good challenging variety of holes.
