The Links at Hiawatha Landing
About
The Links at Hiawatha Landing sits along the banks of the Susquehanna River, nestled between the Finger Lakes and the Catskill Mountains. It's one of New York's premier upscale public golf courses. Despite the name, the course has more of a heathland layout than a true links course since it lacks the seaside location that is the cornerstone of traditional Scottish links golf courses. The design still has many links features though including windswept sand bunkers. The rolling terrain provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic and the tall grasses make accuracy a necessity. Water comes into play on seven holes but there aren't any forced carries or blind shots, making the golf course approachable for even high handicappers. The Links at Hiawatha Landing finishes with a challenging par 5 that doglegs left around a large pond.

The course Is beautiful
The course was beautiful and the staff were great. Some courses locally are real uptight about pace of play but not Hiawatha. The only downside was we booked a tee time for 2 people and once we got to the course to check in, we were told we would be paired with another 2 some. If we had known this prior to our tee time, we wouldn’t have brought another 2 golfers we knew. We understand the course needs to make as much money per tee time as possible, it just won puisne have been nice to know that was going to be the situation. We will be back to play Hiawatha again many times in the future.
Solid Links Course
Certainly a solid course but could use some tee box and rough maintenance. This is a difficult course for a high handicap golfer like me: tight, tons of sand, small greens, and most greens are protected by bunkers and/or water. That is my only hesitation about coming back but that is a matter of my skill set, not the course itself.
Greens off
2nd time I played course loved it 1st time that’s why I came back. Group I brought with me were not impressed. Greens were not up to par because they were sanded recently and were not good to put on. I had called ahead before planning golf trip but no mention of this. I still like this course but don’t think my friends will be back. Good greens are very important. Maintenance has to be done but customers need to be informed
I am writing this review in regards to the staff at Hiawatha. On July 9 when we played there the course and payed for 18 holes and a cart.. the coarse was packed on this day.. Play was extremely slow I would call it painfully slow... Nine holes took approximately two hours and 35 minutes and this is only because a group of two graciously offered to join a group of three on the fourth hole to help with the slow play. After we played nine holes I went in to the pro-shop to see if I could get a raincheck to play nine holes on another day. I spoke to the GM in the pro shop who basically sad because I booked through golf now he would not give me the option to play
9 holes at another time. He also added that if I booked the
18 hole round with them at Hiawatha he would’ve had no problem giving me a rain check to play . Although I disagreed with the GM I was not able to convince him to offer me the remainder of my round (nine holes) on another day even at any time of his choice. So I learned from this that although I paid a lesser rate to play I have no options if something came up while I as on the golf coarse weather related or personal and I was unable to finish my round of golf I would be SOL..
Liking the links
My wife and I played in under 3 1/2 hours. Greens fairways and tees in very good condition. Staff very friendly would definitely recommend this course and will return
Great condition, again
Always a fun track to play. The conditions today where great for this early in the season
explanation of questions above
the area had a lot of rain so half the holes were cart path only. The weather was initially cool but as the round progressed it was very comfortable. will be playing this course again.
course was in great shape on 4/419 in the north east!!
Have played different times of the year and the course was in great shape for april 4th. Had a good time and hit some good shots, also many bad ones!!! This course always wants you to come back.
Challenging
There has been an unprecedented amount of rain lately which has many courses very wet. We were pleasantly surprised with condition of course. It was wet but very playable. We did have to do Cart path only on 11 of 18 holes which slowed play a little. Greens were in good condition. Weather was good to start and we got done before some imminent rain forecast. Overall good day.

Good course. Sand traps are iffy and cart path needs work
Great value
We were able to play a great course at a discount price! Great value and great course to play!
Awesome
Love playing this course! You hardly ever have to wait on the group in front of you if there is one and the staff is so friendly! There are some challenges and the greens always run true.
nice time.
I was visiting the area and found the course through golf now. Nice course in good shape, greens seemed a little hard but it is July. One "got'cha" hole, #18. Until you've played it once, it's hard to know where to hit your drive. It looks like you can cut a corner and get rewarded, but it is much further than it looks. Otherwise I enjoyed the round a lot. Staff was friendly and helpful.
