Auchterderran Golf Club is situated amidst the rolling countryside of the former mining village of Cardenden. The course has a unique, idyllic charm that holds its own even against Fife's many exceptional golf courses. It is a layout that appeals to a variety of skill levels, with more forgiving features to balance the difficulty of some of the holes. The most challenging is definitely the fifth hole. This blind par 3 will prove to be a formidable test to even the most skilled golfers. The hole features a small green and a narrow, sloping fairway as well as out-of-bounds to the left and gorse to the right. In addition to the inviting layout, Auchterderran Golf Club prides itself on its friendly atmosphere that is always welcoming to visitors.

A nice little course, well worth a look.

This was my first time playing this course. It is by no means a championship course, but for the price I didn’t expect it to be. The starter in the pro shop was friendly and explained the course layout. The weather was kind and as a 19.4 handicap, the course had its challenges without being overly difficult. Will definitely play here again.

get what you pay

It is a very rustic golf course, not amenities, not easy signs of the tracks, but you get what you pay, Interesting gc for a practice and try new difficulties. Challenging..some holes pretty much

Good for the price

Played at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, course was quiet but some 4 balls slowing down so had to jump about a bit. Second hole has rocks right up the middle of the fairway and never found my ball I hit straight up the middle.

Greens are ok and some nice holes, couple of dodgy crossover holes where you can probably expect some stray tee shots headed at your green or fairway

Nobody in the clubhouse when I got there so could have just pitched up and played free.

£7.99 for 18 holes (2 x round nine hole layout) was worth it though

Auchterderran

Nice 9-hole course, pretty tricky in parts, unmanned, no shop.

You get what you pay for

Per other reviews, you get what you pay for - very cheap round, but fairways absolutely covered in cut grass, cross crossing/fully overlapping round most of the course and no directions with a fairly confusing layout. Still, some enjoyable holes and greens rolling nicely.

Nice 9 holes

Nice 9 holes. Arrived early and went straight on. Not a fan of crossover holes and there are a few so glad I played when it was quiet. Members friendly and helpful. Unfortunately no access to toilets at the end of my round. Great course for a novice or someone who wants to practice their short game. All in all you get what you paid for.

A bit quirky, but fun.

Thankfully I fell into a pairing with a local who was able to help me navigate this course (thanks, Andy!). Left to my own devices I might still be out there, and might not have been able to avoid being hit by stray shots as we criss-crossed fairways. All that being said, I had fun and was challenged by the quirky but interesting layout. So much so that I finished 9 holes and decided to go again. Definitely worth a visit, at least once.

A Wee hidden Gem

This is a wee gem of a course, well presented and with a couple of really quirky holes. Both competent and new golfers will enjoy this course immensely. Beware badly hit drives here as the gorse is readly available to swallow your golf balls. The green keepers here have done a great job in presenting this course, it was really fun to have a round here.
