Thornton Golf Club
About
Thornton Golf Club sprawls across an expanse of wooded parkland bounded by the River Ore. The course is mostly flat, making it easy to walk but don't let the lack of elevation deceive you. The golf course provides challenges for all skill levels, it especially tests players who have a tendency to hook their shots. The river comes into play on the par-3 14th hole, which is the first of a set of five demanding holes. Despite being some of the shortest holes on the course, they are actually the most challenging. Long hitters will have to be careful on these finishing holes. The final hole is longer than most of the course's short par 4s but it is more straightforward. In addition to the interesting round, Thornton Golf Club has built its reputation on the excellently maintained greens.

Great course
Thornton is always enjoyable. Great layout and in super condition.Greens were better than other Fife courses I’ve played. Hidden gem
Enjoyable afternoon out
Professional very pleasant and helpful as were all staff and members we interacted with.
Although not the longest course I have played the course has many interesting holes and they are well guarded. It was also in v good condition.
Great course
Great 18 hole parkland course nestled in the heart of east fife . Course was in excellent condition played Great.
Beginners first time
Cracking day for my first round, course was in really good condition, enough difficulty for a newbie to golf so was plenty challenging (hope you like trees) staff were all friendly, bar man even opened the bar back up to allow us to get a post round drink! Top man
Definitely be back with it being fairly local.
Course in great condition with rough a bit thicker than usual.
Pity my game wasn't up to much but certainly no fault of the course
Very good course
Very good course overall with nice variety of holes.Need to sort the road leading into the course though.
Great course, friendly golfers
Booked the night before and was a 1 ball, I was stuck inbetween a winter league comp where it was a bit slow pace of play and a local group approached me to explain a way to jump on to the 8th and play through and then rotate round to play the other holes I would skip. This was great as it meant my round was then open and really enjoyable.
Course was great, other golfers friendly, great layout and great value for money.
Great Experience
After a 'late night' away this was the perfect antidote on a Sunday morning as we headed back to Ayrshire. Very welcoming staff and course in great condition and not too taxing on the hangover. Some great little holes amongst the treelined par 4s. Well worth a visit and one I am sure we will visit again on our way home.
Never fails to impress
Hidden gem
Access through a rail tunnel though max height 2.4 meters
Regimental golf. In a 2ball sitting behind a 4 ball the whole game
The course was in great condition. The heat played a part in not liking the day in general, waiting at every tee .
Friendly jewel
Set a beautiful part of Fife this beautiful kept golf course and it’s friendly staff are just what golfers need. It suits all kinds of handicap. Please give it a try.
