Canmore Golf Club

About
Canmore Golf Club in Dunfermline was built in 1897 and has been at its present site since 1902. In 1914, the nine-hole course became 18, although play on the back nine was limited as most of it was given up during World War I. The golf course had a second run from 1921 until 1941, when World War II intervened. In 1946, after a redesign, the course was given back to Canmore Golf Club, and, with the exception of a few small changes, the layout remains the same today.
One of the changes has been the addition of more trees, which have created a more defined layout. The par-67 golf course is comprised of five par 3s and 13 par 4s, with nary a par 5 in sight. Don't mistake the lack of a cinco as some nod to economical layout, it's more like stingy ratings. There are a few long par 4s, like the 430-yard 17th, nicknamed "Sandwich." The fairway here slopes steeply from left to right, with bunkers on the right and trees on the left.
Canmore Golf Club's signature hole is the 11th, "Quarry," a 374-yard par 4. Your second shot after the drive is blind, 30 feet down to a green surrounded on two sides by steep embankments and an out of bounds. There's also two bunkers and a burn to spice things up. The 11th hole is in the middle of a particularly tough stretch on Canmore that doesn't get much easier. The 10th has an out of bounds running along the left side, and the 12th, a par 3, features a tee shot over a big gorge full of trees. The 13th, another par 3, features more out of bounds to the left of the green. Make it out of this stretch with your sanity and a decent score, and you might be in for a good day.
Canmore Golf Club is open to visitors from Sunday to Friday from March to October and Sunday to Saturday from November to February. Catering and full bar service are available. Also, party bookings are welcomed on all weekdays and selected Sundays throughout the year.

Cracking Course
Good little course. Sensibly laid out with holes that give the amateur golfer a chance for par.
In really good condition with a fair bit of variety from the holes too.
Thoroughly enjoyed our round
Nice greens
Nice greens, would like to play it again. It’s very forgiving if you are wild off the tee so no real advantage to playing a straight ball.
Fantastic
Great course greens immaculate fairways superb a few surprises on the round overall a solid 8.5 out of 10.
Good day at Canmore
The course is enjoyable and in good condition not too long for a veteran like me, only one hole I really didn’t like was 11th totally blind second shot over a hilloc then a gully needs somebody walking ahead to watch the ball but all in all well worth £23 on a Saturday
great condition
great greens
fantastic divot free fairways
moderate tees
Maybe needs a few more directional signs on the course for visitors
Canmore GC revisit
A fantastic course friendly staff course in excellent condition and thoroughly enjoyed playing it greens lightening fast due to being well manicured and a sunny bit windy day will most definitely play again thank you to the pro for your friendliness.
Colossal charm of a course
Played March 2025 in Great condition. Slight tweak to layout but amazing value for money. Greens good.
Poor effort
Stopped at 12 holes. Layout meant waiting for group to leave green and tee off as tee was next to or in front of each time. Mats from fairways but none to borrow. Unfriendly folk on the course. Temporary and missed holes out of action. Not much fun
A compact charm
Have played the course a fair bit in the 00s. Been a while but played here march 25.. 3 winter greens. Overall really good. Greens in good shape for March. For £12 it's insane value.
Buddy's day out
Great course condition after rhe winter weather well set out
Canmore golf
Played in a very humid day , in general fairways in very good condition, well kept greens, but a couple of holes are facing..much care with that.
Drainage not rhe best., but playable.
Friendly little course
First time playing here and will most probably be back. Lovely course, not too long and quite compact. At £10 it was real bargain we thought. Unfortunately we didn’t have any cash as the tills were down so we couldn’t try the food. The staff were really nice and apologetic for the issues they were having ( not their fault after all)
Our only gripe was that there could’ve been more signs directing you to the next tee etc. but fortunately we met a lovely couple who we let go in front of us to show us the way.
Cracking course and hopefully try the food the next time we’re there.
Cracking wee course
As always a good course with some technically challenging holes.
Greens have been moved around from the last time I went but a really good course.
Fairway really good conditions and the first and second cut on the rough was good height to play off unlike other courses where it’s way too long.
Quite not rushed to play quickly and the members and staff were all friendly as always.
Worth the money if you fancy a good course to play.
FYI watch out for quarry challenging hole no matter how many times you play it.
Very tricky greens
Great course, some cracking holes.green were very good,a lot of delicate breaks.clubhouse was closed when I came of about .6pm
I will be back😊
Tough but fair challenge
Excellent course, in the shirt side but a real good challenge. Some of the par 3's are the trickiest I've ever played. Will definitely be playing here again
