Drumoig Hotel Golf Resort
About
Drumoig Golf Hotel sprawls across 250 acres of rolling countryside inhabited by a variety of different birds and wildlife. The dramatic landscape provides the course with plenty of loch-side fairways and quarry greens. The lochs come into play on three holes, most notably on the challenging par-3 ninth. The difficult tee shot is followed by a tricky shot over the loch in order to reach the green. More advanced golfers will find the back tees provide a good challenge while the front tees are better for beginners. Golfers will also enjoy the views that stretch past St. Andrews Bay and the River Tay to Dundee and Carnoustie. The par-5 fifth is the signature hole of the golf course. The hole, which often plays into prevailing wind, requires a strong drive and a long iron to reach the narrow opening to the green.

Great course
Played this course a few times and always enjoyed it. Was here on Sunday 6th August and the lady working in the starters box was very friendly. The only issue was the incredibly slow pace of play but I think this seems to be a tee off times issue where they take bookings 10mins apart without considering stuff like a single player or a twoball being stuck behind 3 x fourballs.
Pleasantly surprised by Drumoig
My expectations of Drumoig was that it would be another modern lay out and a long slog. Whilst it was indeed long off the back markers, there was plenty of interest and some really well designed holes on this course. Stand outs were the 9th & 10th where water comes into play, but the rest of the course was very good too. Played with a young lad who was having a practice round ahead of the Scottish boys championship and it was a joy to watch him play. The staff member in the starters hut was really helpful too. All in all an enjoyable days golf & a nice course, would happily go back again.
Course okay, poor greens, very slow play
This is the second time playing. Common factor is slow play. Waiting on every tee to tee off waiting for most approach shots - all the way round. If the pace was quicker we would have avoided the rain.
Course was very nice, second time round the greens were being repaired so a lot of sand, was like chipping onto a trampoline. Green pace varied from lighting quick to putting through tar.
I would recommend the course to people but they would get a warning that the pace of play is very slow.
The etiquette of the players was annoying shouting across fairways etc bottles of alcohol were also found on a couple of tee boxes.
Overal the course is great, the golfers on it, not so much.
Beautifu tricky Course
Cant it to ay Drumoig again. Lovely testing course.
Good Round!
We hired a Buggy, and glad we did! It would be some walk! The cold wind spoiled what would have been a great days golf but overall the course was in great nick and can't wait to go back again.
Play Drumoig
Great course,
Love the water hazards, good value for the money
On arrival to the starters Hut we were met by the most unhelpful, sarcastic and down right rood member of any staff I've ever come across and it's not what I would expect from a club like Drumoig. Due to the attitude of the man I will never play this course again and I will be making contact with the club to express my disappointment with said individual
Great condition and value
Great value, friendly staff, course was in great condition. Will be back.
very underated course
Course with very fast greens, challenging holes, somework ongoing on course so one winter green.Underated course and always enjoyable to play
Great Value
Have played this course many times but feel its hard to find better value in the winter months. £13pp and course in great condition.
Highly Recomended
Excellent condition and value for this time of year.
Good layout, good condition excellent value and playing full course in December.
Good course, great condition. Terrible welcome
Fantastic course in perfect condition. Really tough golfing challenge but great fun in testing yourself. The course plays very long with a good few par 5's and some monster par 4's. Only downside of the day was the unbelievably grouchy Course starter who was about as welcoming and friendly as the flu.
Drumoig
four of us travelled up from Bathgate not knowing what to expect as none of us had played the course before.
Course was in very good condition for this time of year, even though some greens had tyne marks the greens rolled very nicely.
Some of the holes are very picturesque especially the ones around the water, the 9th in particular is a very demanding tee shot as the water is very reachable as is the 10th.
Will definitely return to Drumoig best £16 for a game of golf I have paid.
Great Value
Excellent value for money and great condition for November. Well worth a visit
Great Course!!
I've played Drumoig a few times now and each time has been the same. The first time I played, the starter was great and full of information on the course. The next time he recognised me and let me get on with it which was nice. Each time I've played I was playing on my own and I was able to sneak in front of a larger group and whizz round the course. Even playing off of the green tees (the yellows are a much longer course) it's still a fair distance to the clubhouse.
The course offers a wide range of obstacles from trees/shrubs, well placed bunkers, greens in old quarries, elevation changes, and a few holes beside a potentially very tricky lake.
I've only ever seen beautiful weather up there although it can get a bit windy but I suspect even with more inclement weather, Drumoig offers a great golfing experience.
In the winter months, make sure you get out before 2 as that's what time I went out and it was nearing dark before I made it back in.
My only negative is my experience in the clubhouse. The lady that has served me a couple of times, who I presume is a manager, wasn't the friendliest; never seen her smile; when asked if it was ok to leave my clubs in the locker room, she looked at me as though I'd asked for her house keys and was coldly told it would only be at my own risk (maybe they've had thefts before); I've ordered a burger (which was nice enough) and a pint but I felt like an inconvenience - last visit I just had a drink and left. In general, I felt like a nuisance to her; like she either didn't want me there or didn't want to be there herself. As a hospitality manager myself, I find the service lacking.
However, Drumoig is a beautiful course and well worth a visit or two. I'll definitely be back but maybe just avoid the 19th hole.
