Drumoig Golf Hotel sprawls across 250 acres of rolling countryside inhabited by a variety of different birds and wildlife. The dramatic landscape provides the course with plenty of loch-side fairways and quarry greens. The lochs come into play on three holes, most notably on the challenging par-3 ninth. The difficult tee shot is followed by a tricky shot over the loch in order to reach the green. More advanced golfers will find the back tees provide a good challenge while the front tees are better for beginners. Golfers will also enjoy the views that stretch past St. Andrews Bay and the River Tay to Dundee and Carnoustie. The par-5 fifth is the signature hole of the golf course. The hole, which often plays into prevailing wind, requires a strong drive and a long iron to reach the narrow opening to the green.

Good course, great condition. Terrible welcome

Fantastic course in perfect condition. Really tough golfing challenge but great fun in testing yourself. The course plays very long with a good few par 5's and some monster par 4's. Only downside of the day was the unbelievably grouchy Course starter who was about as welcoming and friendly as the flu.

Drumoig

four of us travelled up from Bathgate not knowing what to expect as none of us had played the course before.

Course was in very good condition for this time of year, even though some greens had tyne marks the greens rolled very nicely.

Some of the holes are very picturesque especially the ones around the water, the 9th in particular is a very demanding tee shot as the water is very reachable as is the 10th.

Will definitely return to Drumoig best £16 for a game of golf I have paid.

Great Course!!

I've played Drumoig a few times now and each time has been the same. The first time I played, the starter was great and full of information on the course. The next time he recognised me and let me get on with it which was nice. Each time I've played I was playing on my own and I was able to sneak in front of a larger group and whizz round the course. Even playing off of the green tees (the yellows are a much longer course) it's still a fair distance to the clubhouse.

The course offers a wide range of obstacles from trees/shrubs, well placed bunkers, greens in old quarries, elevation changes, and a few holes beside a potentially very tricky lake.

I've only ever seen beautiful weather up there although it can get a bit windy but I suspect even with more inclement weather, Drumoig offers a great golfing experience.

In the winter months, make sure you get out before 2 as that's what time I went out and it was nearing dark before I made it back in.

My only negative is my experience in the clubhouse. The lady that has served me a couple of times, who I presume is a manager, wasn't the friendliest; never seen her smile; when asked if it was ok to leave my clubs in the locker room, she looked at me as though I'd asked for her house keys and was coldly told it would only be at my own risk (maybe they've had thefts before); I've ordered a burger (which was nice enough) and a pint but I felt like an inconvenience - last visit I just had a drink and left. In general, I felt like a nuisance to her; like she either didn't want me there or didn't want to be there herself. As a hospitality manager myself, I find the service lacking.

However, Drumoig is a beautiful course and well worth a visit or two. I'll definitely be back but maybe just avoid the 19th hole.

pleasantly surprised

Course had lots of character. It was prettier than we expected, particularly the signature hole. Also, after playing many walking rounds of golf earlier on the trip, it was a nice break to be able to ride in a buggy. Greens were a bit slow.

Hidden gem! Take a trolley, not a walking course for North Americans. Fairways and greens in great conditions. Very scenic . Would recommend to anyone.

Great Value - Underrated course

I think Drumoig suffers from some of it's near neighbours (St Andrews) and is not classed as a links so visiting golfers pass it by which is a pity. This track holds it's own against some of the so called resort courses close by at a fraction of the price. It's a well thought out course and 6400yds off the visitors tees is plenty long enough. We played on a lovely day with just a slight breeze however the greenkeepers had the course looking well and the greens were in cracking condition. If you're not so keen on walking, a buggy is recommended, it can feel a bit hilly. Overall 8 out 10 and I've only marked it down due to the redesigned 18th hole, but I guess this was due to the houses coming in to play from a slice off the tee. Well worth a look and great value through GolfNow charges.
