Fairways were in good shape two green were damaged Photo submitted by phischman on 08/07/2013
Long track
The layout was great with some long fours and fairly long threes as well.
Winter condition so you’d expect no different for February.
I’ll be back with the boys soon.
Serviceable
Played a round at Split Rock with some friends on Presidents Day. Conditions were decent for winter golf besides the sand traps. Because of the melted snow sand traps were essentially just thick mud. Pace of play for a 10am tee time was 4.5 hours. Closed snack stand with the clubhouse far away was an inconvenience. Very serviceable course for a winter round!
Bad Experience
Second time playing here and not worth it from every point of interaction.
in good shape for the amount of play it gets
Gets very busy, in decent shape for all the play it gets, and open year round.
Course was in great condition only negative were the amount of leafs on the greens could of used staff going around with a blower.
Fall play
Ruff was high and fairway were full of leaves. Pace of play was really slow.
Top-Notch Muni Golf
Got out early on a November morning (7:15) to play Split Rock for the first time, was able to finish the round in 3 hours flat. The course is in fantastic shape for this late in the season. Greens run true and fast, definitely the best I've played in New York City. On the pricier side, but well worth the extra $20 bucks for the care they give the course – it shows.
City course
Overall it’s not a bad track especially for a city course the pace of play was terrible we waited on every hole often with the two groups ahead of us given that it was a Sunday I guess it was to be expected but a 5 hour plus round is never great there was what looked like a ranger riding around but he was useless I like the track and will go there again but NOT on a Sunday
GREED OVER QUALITY.
Worst experience ever. Had a 2:15 Tee time couldn't complete. They over booked and let the herd ahead of us in 7 minutes after each tee times... it took us over 5 hours to reach 15 hole... we had to give up!!!! No rangers to complain about the pace ahead of us- there was this Korean woman who was taking 10 shots to get to complete a par 4 while his husband is looking for his ball around the green - it was frustrating experience!!!!!! Never again!!!!
Terrible experience
2 / 5 stars - I arrived at the course early that morning excited to strike some balls through the cool fall breeze. At the time, I didn’t know how terrible of an experience awaited me. I couldn’t hit one ball straight. Whether it was an iron, driver or putting of the ball, I could not execute. The course was long with rough grass areas - I was slicing many shots into several trees that occupy the premises. The greens moved fast and were smooth so the ball picked up tremendous speed and lost focus. Terrible experience and I recommend that you avoid. Look elsewhere
