In great shape
Was pleased to see that the course was in great shape. I usually play at marine park, but I will play Dyker Beach more as long as it stays in shape.
Called Dyker Beach but no Sand in bunkers
Course is not in good shape. Bunkers are completely unplayable and some of the worst I have seen. Grass has not fully grown in in the fairways. NY Parks and Recs is not providing enough funding for this course to keep up with course maintenance and its a shame especially with the amount of business and closeness to golfers based in NYC.
Cart Paths are falling apart and need to be redone as well.
On a positive note - we got around in 4hours and is the fastest I've seen pace of play over the last 8 years - but probably due to the course not being in good shape. Staff is great out there and laments at the lack of funding to be able to maintain what was once a course in great shape.
please fix bunkers
I do understand that covid has taken its toll but golf play is way up and it's been 2 years and they are charging full price so i would expect the bunkers to have sand that could be racked not hardpan with grass growing out some spots, it is betterthis year but not there yet. the rest of the couse is looking great.
dyker beech
I was told i had to share a cart with a stranger ,
i was told at counter that i could pay an additional $20 for a cart of my own, I did that reluctantly ,
i went outside and waited ten minutes but no one gave me a cart or a key to drive a cart,
i went inside got my $20 back and left the course
poor experience there to say they least

Dyker Beach, On the Way Back
I was very pleased to see that the golf course is on its way back.
In 2018, Dyker Beach was looking like a country club and then took a nosedive.
Let us put this into the past. The greens are not prepared for filling in nicely. Participants simply need to be encouraged to repair divots and the greens should be able to hold up to the amount of play expected in, 2022.
The staff is great, beginning with the starter crew, absolutely the very best. The management should stay in place. For the first time, in a while, they seem to be the right fit.
Dyker Beach is on the right track to become NYC's number one golf course.
Dyker Golf
I’ve played this course many time and throughly enjoy the layout. There’s plenty of parking and the club room is clean and the service is great. In fact I had an excellent Bloody Mary to ward off the chill. It is my course of choice . You will enjoy a round here.
Solid. Convenient. Interesting
I play here every couple months. Layout has enough variety and interesting holes along with some fairly straight ones. From the black tees a handful of holes require distance - 200 yd par three is always a challenge for me. Plenty of undulating fairways and elevated greens. Overall course conditions could be better but for the price I’m happy here. Can be slow in good weather. I avoid weekends on all nyc public courses.
Why not country club quality?
Dyker Beach GC has been up and down for the past 20 years that I have been playing there.
The golf course is very heavily played, which is of benefit, financially and detrimental because of the wear and tear.
My opinion reads, as follows: being the most played GC within the continental US, there must be enough revenue to maintain the track in Country Club fashion. It is far from the look or feel of an excellent golf course.
American Golf realizes that people will come even if the course could use major improvement. So why spend money making it better, when players from NYC will patronize because of location and convenience.
Too bad, because it really should be a showcase for American Golf.
