Dyker
It was fun, nice course, long par 3s overall it was a good day
so bad for Start!
Starter Did Not Control the Golfer !
So Slow Moving !!!
GolfNow let me book a tee time drive there pay for it and when I got there the course was closed and they had received no payments or notifications that I booked a time. PATHETIC!
How to let a great course go bad
With the pandemic as an excuse, as long as it continues to book rounds without complaints, American Golf has decided to spend its money on salaries rather than repair the sand traps and seed the fairways of this iconic course. So sad
Dyker Beach
Course in terrible condition. Greens as long as fairways. So many putts stopped well short of the hole even when hammered. No sand in many traps. Some tees so heavily sanded the golf tee would just sink. Won’t go back this season.
Tees and greens are unplayable
Most of the tees a just piles of sand, should be closed off. All of the greens were just unsuitable. The bunkers have not been maintained. This is the worst condition I've ever seen at DB.
Dan
I played with a friend and he played here a few years ago and it was in a lot better shape, tee boxes weren’t good either too sandy or beat up. Sand traps have not been maintained, fairways were so so. Greens appeared to have been punched 7 - 10 days ago, that isn’t a fault it’s the time of year. If course was kept up it could be a **** star too ****1/2. Sorry for the negativity but this is how I experienced it for the first time.
Disgraceful
This year i was fortunate enough to have played 20+ courses around the tri state area and this one was the worst by far. First my tee time was pushed back by 20 to 30 minutes because of a group outing. The course “professionals” allowed this group to completely destroy the pace of play. It took my group 4 hours to play 13 holes. In addition, the greens were sand traps. Every hole was a 3 putt. I will never go back to this course.

My mother said it you don’t have anything nice to say about something don’t say anything at all. So I won’t say anything.
Awful.
Wish I could give negative stars.
The back nine was closed we had to play the font nine twice. The greens were aerated and loaded with sand to the point that it wasn't even worth trying to putt. The T-Boxes were a wreck, impossible to even find a flat spot. The sand bunkers look like they haven't been touched in months, overgrown with weeds and complete hardpan. Even the cart had a chunk of cushion missing from the seat.
TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY I WAS CHARGED FULL GREEN FEES. When I asked for a discount I was told it wasn't possible that's what everyone pays.
Even if your service can not at the very least let people know greens are being aerated before they make a decision to book, I do not see the purpose in using it any longer. I will call the course directly and at least make an informed decision.
If I could make a recommendation to you I would say to stay away from any course that is run by American Golf in NY. You guys need to do a better job of making people aware of course conditions.
I would really like a response.
Pretty pretty disappointing
Disappointing to say the least. Front 9 greens were being aerated so were closed - fair enough. The greens on the back 9 were in great condition, but bunkers and tee boxes were shocking. Some tee boxes had more sand on them than the bunkers! Cart paths are deteriorating with pot holes in them. Fairways and rough were standard for NYC park golf. Pro shop and starter workers were very friendly and helpful though!
Poorly maintained..!
While other courses have provided pre-covid amenities, i.e. Grill room, ball washers, rakes in groomed bunkers and rough that is cut to not be penal, this course does none of the above?
Perhaps it's a staffing problem but I'm thinking that if other courses within the 5 boros can deliver those things for their patrons, why not here?
ANSWER: more $$$ in catered events than in daily service. Sad, as thus course has good bones and should have attention paid to it!
Architect
Surprisingly, no grill room service, no ball cleaners on course, no rakes in bunkers which are infested with weeds?
This was a very nice course pre covid but now....?
Stormy weather
The weather was stormy and the pro shop held up play due to lightning strikes. They allowed the die hard golfers a later tee time, after the storm, mainly because a lot of people just left. So a full parking lot reduced to fifteen cars, most of them on course waiting out the storm.
The tees are not labeled, needed help locating 1st tee, after that not bad ,good layout. The bunkers were the worst, no sand mostly dirt, otherwise the course played well after a rainstorm, and a wide open course allowed for a 3.5hr round
Conditions
Very wet course but overall shooting from play was appreciable.
Won't be back.
Outside of Douglaston GC, this is the worst public course I can remember playing. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Sand traps need alot of attention. A little TLC could really make this course more desirable. Layout of the course is very good. Rough could use a cut and fairways need to fill in in spots. Overall I like the course and would return. Tks Bill
