Forward tee boxes and greens in tough shape. Due to Covid this NYC course that was closed for months and not maintained. Hopefully will be back in good shape next year.
What a shame
Dyker has hit a new low. The starter was rude. The sand traps are three feet deep in grass and crab grass is consuming the greens.
American golf should be ashamed of itself. They have destroyed a beautiful golf course.
Sunday round
Course looked like an abandoned golf course, I’ve played it hundreds of times and have never seen it in worse condition, it’s a shame when the best part of a round was when it ended, I know it’s a pandemic but people are still paying hard earned money! Awful!!
1st Time at Dkyer Beach Golf
Greens were not kept, and sand traps had as many weeds as the greens.
Took a Covid hit
Course in tough condition from Covid. Sand traps filled with crabgrass. Greens slow but not too choppy Tees grass thin if there. Ok if one plays lift clean and place. Otherwise quite playable.
Very poor condition
I understand the city has had a tough time focusing on things outside of immediate efforts to address the pandemic. But the condition of Dyker Beach was incredibly poor. Every sand trap overgrown with crabgrass, trees felled all over the course, crab grass everywhere, fairways with exposed dirt everywhere. There’s poor condition and then there is what we encountered at Dyker. Really nice people working there and a good crowd playing, but seemed like a groundskeeper hadn’t sniffed the course in weeks, if not longer.
Awful
Love this course but it’s in shocking condition. Avoid for the rest of the season. They let it go over the winter and even with three months rest it’s awful. Fairways are very patchy. Bunkers are full of greenery. Greens are decent though. Feel bad for the nice people working there.
Life's too short
There are lots of courses with mediocre or boring layouts that can get by because of good conditions.
This place has a boring layout but what it is missing is a white line around the property indicating Ground Under Repair. It is a mess.
The fairways are roughs, the roughs are untended, the greens are bumpy and inconsistent.
If I played there for free I would think that I had overpaid.
I am sure there are good reasons for this fall from relative grace but I don't care.
It is a metaphor for our current times
Will not return anytime soon
I live a half mile from this course but rarely play it because of mediocre conditions and management. My foursome took a chance on August 6th and regretted it. We teed off 40 minutes late even though we were each charged a $4 reservation fee. It seems to me that American Golf, which manages the course, has decided it won’t put any work into its nyc courses this year. We didn’t see a single maintenance worker on the course.Tee boxes are very bad with more dirt and weeds than grass. Fairways offer very few playable lies with lots of hardpan and weeds. Bunkers are totally unkept with 12 inch weeds more prevalent than sand. Greens are in poor condition with lots of bald spots and dry yellow grass. On top of the lousy conditions, there isn’t a Marshall to be seen anywhere. Our round took almost 5 hours and we couldn’t wait to get off the course. We won’t be back any time soon. Spend your money where management at least tries to keep the course up.
Need Improvement
Need Improvement all around , lower the price or fix everything.
Never seen course in such bad shape
I want a refund
Course after hurricane is expected but putting green closed and bunkers are jungles.
Disappointed
Covid catastrophe
I usually like this course, but between the heat and shutdown it probably won’t be back in good shape until next year. The bunkers are weed gardens.
