A very good NYC muni course
I would really give it 3-1/2 stars if that was an option. I like the course layout. Some very good greens with interesting shapes and contours. Nice elevation changes and layout of holes. Some challenging par threes. Nothing really stands out as exceptional but overall a solid golf course.
Pace Of Play
The Pace of Play was smooth. The course was packed (A nice day in February) and everyone came out. I usually play once a year there but if the Pace Continues like yesterday I will play there more often.
Horrible customer service for a beautiful course...
I have never taken any time out to criticize any course or its employees for most of them have been pretty fair. However, everything changed on sunday at dyker beach golf course. This guy at the register i believe his name is linden was as rude as they come. I don't think he likes his job very much and has started to take it out on people who come out for a round of golf. I do hope he finds a job where he is happy and treats his customer with the same respect that is shown to him.
great for the prize
to many leafs on course fairways and green made play longer. great customer service in pro shop..
Great Course But Tough time late in the season
Like Dyker but no way to find your ball if leaves are not attempted to be removed!!! No way the should charge more than $20 to play under such conditions. Leaves in the fairway, bunkers.....
Everything you need to know about DBGC
I've been playing at Dyker Beach for the last ten years with an increase over the past two years. The most important things you need to know about this course:
(i) Your "reserved" tee time doesn't mean much of anything 50% of the time; the reality is that the clubhouse and the ranger at the tee boxes at hole 1 aren't interested in your tee time for the most part; they're more concerned with putting as many people on the course as humanly possible without any regard for pace of play.
However, there are days when you can get on this course and the pace of play is amazing and there isn't any wait to play; it's got nothing to do with your reservation though.
(ii) The price in the afternoon is amazing. Don't pay anything online that isn't $28 or less after 3pm.
(iii) The course is fairly straightforward and fun. It's one of my favorite courses in NYC and I'll continue playing it despite the drawbacks at times (I've arrived at 4pm before and finished an 18 by 7:15).
Need better upkeep.
Fun city course which has been letting conditions slide in the past couple of year. I have been playing this course for past 5 years. I understand its tail end of the season, but either drop prices or do better on upkeep.
Fun course with wide open fairways
Great Saturday afternoon round. Booked a twosome on golfnow special so price was great. Surprisingly pace was great on a weekend. On a Saturday afternoon our foursome played 16 holes at just about 4:00 hours withno waiting on any holes until the par 3 17th. Most greens in the front were in terrible shape, it's hard to tell whether the greens were aerated or need aeration. People not fixing ball marks and divots in fairways don't hel either (it is NYC). Anyway can't complain too much, enjoyed a great afternoon round after work along with my golf buddy at a steal of a price.
Green condition poor
Green condition very very poor.
course was crowded
nice day for golf, weather cooperated an the course was in good condition.but it was slow on the front nine. the back was faster maybe people left after nine.
5 Stars for NYC
I was pleasantly surprised how easy this course was to get to from the Upper East Side. Express bus from Batter Pl. drops you right at the front gate. Once you're out there you definitely forget about the city. I was also surprised at how long this course plays. I love the 440+ yard par 4 on the back 9. Definitely not a challenging course, which is good considering city courses are filled with weekend hackers. You really have to mishit to take a drop anywhere as it's wide open and the grass is short. Greens roll true too, especially for a city course. I definitely give Dyker 5 stars on the city course scale. I played Van Cortlandt Park the day before and Dyker is definitely the better play this Summer.
Early weekend round withour brutal pace
Today was one of the better days at Dyker. At times you don't know what you're in for but today was for the most part enjoyable. Guy working the pro shop was on a good day, course conditions were decent despite the amount of play this place gets. Only downside today was the humid weather and legion of mosquitos on a very still morning. Nevertheless a convenient track with many friendly regulars playing.
sunday
great day to golf - thanks again

Late and Slow
Worse then the excruciating slow pace of play was the almost 1 hour delay teeing off. A 9:56 should not be going off at 10:53!!!
Walked off after 9 holes because of delayed start and slow play.
Never Again
Fine course
Played on a holiday weekend and was able to get an early tee time no problem. Staff was great. Course was in fine shape and very playable. Only issue was three holes sprinklers came on when we were getting ready to putt and had to wait for them to shut up before resuming play. Other then that great round!!!
Good Course
The course is well maintained given the amount of play it gets. Greens are in good shape which is what's most important. Layout isn't anything special but it's very hilly so it offers good practice for uneven lies. The course is pretty open and plays longer than one would expect. Hitting long irons well can really help you score well.
Horrible
Teedoff 50 minutes late all golfers were upset
Ok
Lots of leaves hard to find ball greens fine would love to play in summer played with local guy he was a gent helped me with the course nice guy iam from ireland so had to rent clubs they were fair staff were nice i wanted to buy ball maker as a gift they had none disapointed out off 10 /6
beautifull course and still challenging
Since we are in autumn and the leaves are off the trees and on the ground it is usually hard to find your ball. Not so here. The grounds keepers did a beautiful job of getting rid of the leaves.
Also, I booked at golfnow and paid in full but when I got to the pro shop they said I owed the total amount due. So make sure you print out your receipt. The counter person was more than accommodating and the issue was resolved without incident
