Golfer Reviews
Great wee course
First time playing this course, it was nice and flat, some interesting and teasing greens like the 10th. Very enjoyable.
Great course
Only thing that let the course down was it closes at 3pm so no access to scorecards as there was none in the scorecard box. Without my golf watch i would have been all over the place. And we had nothing to mark our scores on which was unfortunate on speaking to members of the course after our round we were told there was never any score cards in the box anyway.
Great course
A great course to play with quite forgiving fairways….course was in great condition…with friendly staff we will definitely be returning.
15th the most picturesque hole I‘ve ever played.
Blessed by beautiful weather, we had a terrific time.
Thoroughly enjoyed the course - and although a par 63/64 off the yellows, there were some very testing par 3s..
Fairways, short rough and greens were in great condition - hard to believe it’s early April.
Lovely friendly staff - friendly vibe - a snobbery-free zone!
We‘ll be back, even without a Groupon voucher, next time round.
Dreadful
Course should have been closed only stayed open so we would lose or money managed 5 holes not putting out on any of them not another player on course and clubhouse was closed at 1150 when we tried to go for a drink to dry off no communication from course told us it was open and playable it definitely wasn't
Enjoy
I enjoyed playing this course and found it to be a decent challenge. I recommend anyone to at least give it a try and you will be pleasently surprised how good it is. All the staff really nice.
Golf friendly
1st in couple of years here took my grandson on his first golf day out he enjoyed it and hopes to come back
Staff were very friendly and even though they were busy still had time for friendly chat
Only thing I did nii on t like 1 person buggy I found it very dangerous to such an extent it tumbled over the top of me luckily I survived
First round at Callander
Fantastic course and great value for money.
Particularly loved holes 16-18, driving down the fairways into scenic views.
I've been playing for only a year and still learning (17 handicap).
Definitely be back, highly recommend.
Gem
The people who have taken on the baton to look after this course should be very proud of themselves. This is a great golf course not only because of the hard work put in by the staff but also the layout of the course is superb, don' t be fooled into believing that the fact course is short makes it easy. This course is a real challenge and at the same time highly enjoyable. We'll worth it.
Poor Greens for the price
Thought the £28.99 on a deal was a bit much, last year it was £19.99 which was fairer. Course was nice enough for the day but the quality of the greens and tees weren’t up to the standard of the price.
Surprise package
I booked to play last minute on a spectacularly sunny Saturday morning. Other than a couple of others I appeared to have the course to myself. I was initially concerned about playing such a short course, and feared it wouldn't give me the opportunity to play every club in my bag; how wrong I was.
The course makes the most of every bit of space on offer. Playing from the white tees often meant having to back track from- or play across- the previous green or, in one instance, cross a neighbouring fairway. I imagine this could make life a little tricky on a busy day, but I had no issues whatsoever.
Despite being a parkland course with relatively limited space, each hole felt enclosed for those surrounding it. The rough in places is challenging sp errant tee shots can be punishing, unlike other courses where there is just semi-rough separating the holes.
Despite only having one par 5 hole, the course makes up for it by having other lengthy challenges such as an uphill 230yd par 3 and some fairly lengthy par 4s.
The fairways were in great condition and the majority of bunkers benefitted from high quality sand. Only one bunker I played had anything that could be considered compacted sand that too often is the hallmark of an affordable course.
The only more significant downside was that the greens were patchy in places and seemed particularly slow despite being a hot and sunny day.
There are some spectacular views to accompany this course that really does have something to offer for most golfers. Will definitely play again.
