Balfron Golf Club

About
Balfron Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course that was recreated from its original layout by respected Scottish golf architect Robin Hiseman. The new nine-hole golf course was opened in 1994, and it was extended to 18 holes 7 years later.
The Baltron golf course is located six miles from Loch Lomond and 20 miles north of Glasgow. There are inspiring views of the local countryside, eerily reminiscent of playing golf in the Scottish highlands.

Course was very wet
Good course. Would have been better if I had known in advance that they were sanding the greens!
First time playing this course . We thoroughly enjoyed our day here a little wet underfoot in places but course looking really good considering all the rain we've had .
Balfron Golf Society
Overall, I really enjoyed this course and found it quite challenging. Some fine holes with some amazing scenery from just about every hole. I was lucky with the weather and will definitely be more challenging in different conditions. Will definitely be back.
Great Course - fantastic condition
Played a 4 ball. Excellent course. Greens superb.
The views are stunning.
Fabulous views
Beautifully kept course with absolutely stunning 180degree views of the stunning Scottish countryside. Would absolutely recommend this stunning course and will be returning.
Challenging little golf course
Not the longest golf course you will play however some lovely scenic and challenging holes. Set in the beautiful Scottish countryside, the course on a sun my day (as we had) is spectacular.
Do not turn up expecting a bar,or a pro shop as those facilities are not there. The lady who was in charge of guest services was friendly, full of good advice and when asked “can I buy some golf balls” said she normally just gives out golf balls that the maintence team finds.
Overall challenging track set in stunning surroundings. I would recommend to anyone looming to test their skills away from the main stream golf clubs.
Stunning
Stunning golf course with stunning views. Great layout with a few challenging holes. Would definitely play here again. Greens in great condition
Clubhouse was shut when I arrived so no idea about amenities. Think the guy must have disappeared for a bit. Quite a tricky course, a lot of blind tee shots (never a good thing). Rough was too thick as well meaning you get penalised heavily in the first cut. Greens were decent when I played. Few nice memorable holes, 16 (I think) was particularly fun to play.
Great, quirky rural Golf Club
Booked a round with GolfNow before playing in an open there in a couple of weeks.
Car park was very quiet and on reaching the small clubhouse I was given a friendly welcome by Liz who was the only person to be seen and who gave me some tips about the course. As expected the course was very quiet with very few other players. Several greenkeepers were cutting the fairways and semi-rough. Course was in very good condition. Greens a little slower than they looked, suspect that’s down to the type of grass?
The last 3 holes are blind and tricky! Really glad I had the opportunity to play them especially before the upcoming open.
On finishing my round there was no one in the clubhouse. There are honesty boxes where you help yourself to drinks and snacks.
Looking forward to coming back soon!
delightful balfron
What a lovely course Balfron turned out to be.
We were seeking courses within a half hour drive of Loch Achray, where we were staying on holiday, and decided to try Balfron. We were delighted with our choice,as it turned out to be a beautiful course maintained in great condition, including smooth-running greens, with a varied and interesting layout which is challenging without being overly difficult and incorporates winding burns sensitively for added interest, particularly in the closing holes.
The views of the surrounding hills are simply stunning, yet the course itself is not too hilly.
Many thanks to Liz and other members for making us so welcome.
This course will be top of our list the next time we are on holiday in the Trossachs.
Always good
I have played this course several times & I've never had a complaint the course is always in good condition I will be back.
Lovely course
The course was in great condition and the views were amazing. Challenging course but not overly difficult I would definitely recommend!
Balfron
Lovely course with a great variety of par 3 4 and 5's
Not too long but is up and down with hills, would definitely recommend and will definitely be back again.
Hidden Gem
This is a great course. A bit remote near the Campsie Hills in Stirlingshire, but a nice drive to get there. Took about an hour from the centre of Glasgow. Overall impressions were very positive. Course was in very good condition for the 1st week in April. Tees, fairways, greens & bunkers are well maintained. Nice open fairways, not too many trees or bushes. Although its in land it reminded me of links courses. Its a wee bit hilly but some very nice view from the higher points on the course. Its challenging but not difficult. Club house is very basic but you get a very friendly welcome. I have no hesitation in recommending this hidden gem. .
Absolute Gem
I love the whole feel to this course. The people friendly and accommodating. Was winter greens at this time but the course is looking and playing good. Fully recommend it🤗👍
