Riverside Golf Course
About
Riverside Golf Course is located on the northwest side of Janesville near the Rock River. Opened in 1924, it is one of the oldest courses in the area and over the years it has earned the reputation of being one of southern Wisconsin's best public courses. The course has also been recognized as one of the 50 best public golf values in the country. The gently rolling hills of the landscape provide the course with rolling, tree-lined fairways and large, undulating greens, which are framed by strategically placed bunkers. Riverside is a challenging course but not so difficult that beginners should be intimidated. The classic layout is quite forgiving and versatile enough for a range of skill levels, one reason why it is the host to the Ray Fischer Tournament, one of the Midwest's most prestigious amateur events.

Great Municipal Course, Superb Staff!!!
We golfed behind an outing which was incredibly slow. Thought it was odd that they'd have a big outing at a municipal course on a weekend. No carts available when we checked in. Driving range is tiny and only irons. Course in excellent shape with quality greens. Some sand traps need more sand and were inconsistent.
Riverside Golf
As always, the course is beautifully maintained and surprisingly dry considering the amount of rain here lately. They obviously spent a lot of time on good drainage.
Challenging course but not gimmicky.
It is always nice to play Riverside. The staff is very friendly and pace of play is typicallying very good. Course is a fun challenge on a mature course without being gimmicky.
Give this course a try!
Great day to golf
We had a great time at Riverside, but my only complain is they had a 4some ahead of us walking.... pace of play was just too slow.
Excellent Value
I always love playing Riverside. It is a really fun layout that gives me a chance to score well making it fun to play. The value is great.
The course is plush
I always forget how nice this course is until I play it. It's plush, the greens are nice, and overall it is one of my favorite courses in the area.
Great experience
Everything was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was in great shape. Some holes were real straight forward and some presented stratetic play. Can't wait to return and play again.
Janesville Oldcodger
The course is in wonderful shape. The traps are a little shy of sand but all in all very good shape. I really recommend you try this course.
Great shape
The course was in great shape and the staff is very friendly. Pace of play could have been a little faster but it was a nice day and I had no where to go.
Nice course for the money
Older course so lots of mature trees, nice layout. The back nine is more challenging than the front. Really enjoyed the course.
Nice
Nice course and hole variety
Great Value
This public course is one of the best in the area value wise. Good course with nice layout. Pretty well kept including fairways and greens.
super slow play
We could have started a picnic between shots the pace was so slow. We finally skipped one hole just to finish before dark. No ranger to keep pace going, group ahead of us waited for green to clear and they were 250 out, then hit 4 shot to get 75 yards. Do not play weekend afternoons as it is super slow. Nine holes in 2 1/2 hours ( with a cart ) leaves no feel to shots.
Value, value, value
I played 18 holes with cart for $23. This course has a fantastic feel to it. It is well laid out with a variety of holes requiring a variety of shots. I particularly like the shorter par 3's. Some of the par 4's are long and really hard (No 16). The course has very thick bent grass, but it needs cutting. Greens are overseeded and "hairy". Fairways could be moved another 1/2 inch or more. Tees are pretty beat up which is probably due to a lot of play. This course is like "comfort food" for me. It reminds me of home and growing up.
Great course, great conditions
I've golfed this course 4 times now this year. My son's first opportunity to play it. Course as always was in good condition even with a couple of inches of rain the night before. My son thought it was one of the best courses he has played.
8/1/15
Like the course. It was in good shape but it was the first 5 hour plus round I have played in years. I don't know what the reason was, but it didn't seem that crowded. Up to 3 groups on a tee at a time is unacceptable.
Easy course
An easy course to play no water hazards, most greens are protected by bunkers
Great time
Wonderful course, one friend had never played it, another hadn't in 30 yrs., both found it very enjoyable
