St. Croix National Golf Club
About
St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

One of the best courses I've played this year
This course was incredible. I loved the elevated greens. I even got to see a deer with her baby in the middle of the fairway on number 10. It was incredible . I felt that this course fits all golfers. The real good ones can be challenged on a lot of the holes and the average 50 plus scores can also shoot a good round. At first I was skeptical because I have a really bad slice off the tee boxes but it did not really come into play for me on too many of the holes.
Best Public Golf Course - Twin Cities
St Croix National (SCXN) continues to exceed expectations. I’ve now played there 5 times this summer. The course and staff are simply the best around.
Unfortunately, I had missed my original tee time, which was booked through GN. Typically, that’s a lost rd, and lost $$$. I called SCXN and they offered me a tee time the next day, at the same time, for the same cost. WOW! Im so thankful they did, my round was a fantastic experience.
The course is in tip top condition. There's not one iota of concern regarding pace of play and other golfers on the course are welcoming. I think everyone knows how wonderful SCXN is.
The pro shop (PS) team is fantastic. Super accommodating. Before you can even ask them for something, they’re asking you. It’s the little things… I was cleaning my spikes off and staff member came over to say “thank you”. The PS is constantly busy, but the staff takes the extra time for conversation. There’s not another public PS in the area that meets this level of customers service. They also have premium apparel and gear for sale, not just your standard overpriced FJ and Callaway pullover etc. plus they’ve got TP5s in stock, only public course I’ve seen with those :)
The restaurant is awesome. Again, they take the time to ask what you’d like to eat. Idk if I’ve ordered something standard, I like to ask what they can “whip up” on the turn. They always throw ideas at me!
I’ve barely mention the course… because it speaks for its self. She’s a beast, and will likely eat your lunch your first few visits. By my 5th visit, I’m scoring, but still playing (-) on my Strokes Gained.
How the heck do you play hole 14!!!!! Layup, you got 200 into an elevated green. Hammer a drive, and you’re left on a wicked downward hill. And still left with 130-150 back uphill! Absolutely love the challenge.
In the other hand, I almost holed out from 144 on hole 10. Must have been the club sandwhich at the turn.
Don’t think twice, get over to SCXN and experience the best public course in the Twin Cities. Make the experience, engage with the staff and ask questions about the course. They want to go above and beyond for you!
I’ll probably be back next week. See you soon SCXN team!!!

Another Great Rd at SCX Natty
The course remains in great condition. There was nobody playing this day. I played 2 balls the entire rd and even snuck in a few extra holes before league started.
Staff is great inside and out. It’s a breathe of fresh air to have rangers with positive attitudes
Value was fantastic, played for $42. One of the better courses in the metro, hangs with the private tracks.
I’ll be back soon.
Different Nines
I played the back nine first and really liked it. It was challenging but pretty consistent. The greens were in really good shape. It was definitely not easy but it was fair. Then I played the front nine which as soon as I stood on the first tee I could see what I was looking at.
This used to be a ski area and the holes on the front both benefit and lack because of it. The holes that are built on the old ski runs almost universally aren’t as natural as the rest of the course. I also found myself hoping for shorter but uphill holes that didn’t require right to left shotmaking. There are some great holes in the middle of the front nine but I almost feel like it would have been a better nine holes if it was built in reverse. I would play it again but if I only could play nine it would definitely be the back.
Challenging Course
The course is in great condition. Plays tough from the back tees, but is scoreable. Pace of play was no issue.
There are some holes that are hard to gauge distance and layout your first time playing. For example, Hole #2 doglegs hard left, but not as left as you may think. The carts do have GPS, but not knowing the layout will lead to lost balls. Most of the holes have no forgiveness if the fairway is missed.
If you grt a rate <$80 you’re getting great value. I’ve seen rates as low as $55. Idk if I’m in at $100+.
The course is picturesque, hole #2 plays downhill ~100ft! These elevation changes make for a challenge most courses do not offer. Conditions are 10/10.
Take your time and enjoy the scenery. Go play St Croix Natty for the experience.
I’ll be going back for sure, left a few strokes out there!
Good golf
It is a beautiful golf course and great scenery. Challenging at times but fair
Beautiful, but many blind shots
One of the most beautiful courses in the Twin Cities metro. Course was in fantastic condition and the greens are exceptional.
Biggest issue - way too many blind shots.
Fun Adventurous Course
Awesome golf course all around. The layout is very up and down like a ski resort but makes for a fun round of golf…great conditions and the amenities are amazing
Diamond in the Rough
This course is an absolute gem! Worth every penny to play.
If you like target golf, this is your ultimate playground. With dramatic elevation changes St. Croix is the challenge you’re looking for.
Head Pro Brandon is amazing … you can tell he genuinely cares about your experience.
Restaurant is fantastic, great menu & even better food.
Stunning
The golf course is so stunning that it gets a pass for stealing so many golf shots. It’s a tough place to imagine all of the shots until after you have seen them. I imagine a second run would play much nicer, although requiring cfull focus on every shot. In other words there are no mindless shots allowed on the course. In the end a truly beautiful golf course.
Upon arriving for our tee time, which we were 40 minutes early. Check in was easy, and staff was friendly. A foursome who’s team time was afterwards, as I will still up front arrived and immediately asked could they start early and the staff person shared that all tee times were booked. We warmed up and when we went to the tee box at 11:30 the foursome was there and jump in front of us. The course had no starter or ranger. Played the first nine ok and the back nine was wait every shot, which took the joy away from our round and the course. Food staff and food was awesome with brick oven pizza. Great amenities and the course is tough and worth playing.
